Does anyone have experience with these tips? Is there a big difference between them?

Good question. I just sent off 3 identical shafts that had Kamui tan soft tips which came on them when ordered directly from Mezz, to be re-tipped with the all 3 of the various Zan premium tip series - the premium soft, the hybrid max and the grip hard tip. Once I get them back this coming week and I have a chance a to fairly try out all 3 tips, I'll report back with my feedback. Considering the 3 different tips will be on absolutely identical butts and shafts, this should give me an opportunity to make a real accurate comparison between the 3 tips.

Cool. Interested in hearing the feedback. What made you choose that particular tip brand?

I’ve installed and have played with the Zan medium and Zan Premium Hybrid Max medium and I liked the hybrid better. They both installed well and are quality tips. There wasn’t a huge difference but I got more action with the hybrid.

love the zan medium, premium soft takes to much to try and get action, been wanting to try the hybrid max but Im pretty sold on the medium and why change what already works soooo well.

Let us know how you feel about those tips. Among the Zan tips I only have experience with the Grip Hard, which is probably my favorite hard tip from the brands I have tried.

I just got back all 3 of my identical shafts with the 3 various Zan premium tips - premium soft, hybrid max, and grip hard. I haven't yet had a chance shoot with them long enough to make a fair assessment, although I have shot enough shots with each to say with confidence that for myself and what I'm looking for in a tip, that all 3 are huge improvements over the Kamui tan soft that came standard on these shafts, which felt way harder to me than any of these 3 tips.

First impressions are that I honestly can't notice a huge feel difference (soft to hard) between any of these 3 tips, but I'm sure once I have a chance for a longer workout I should be able to distinguish between the 3 enough to provide a more detailed comparison. Yes, I do have all 3 identical shafts labeled as to which tips are on each one, so that I don't get them mixed up and I'll know which tip I'm using.

Thank you so much for that review!

Hey buddy, do you still use the Zan tips?

What did you think about the Zan tips you have used?

What tip are you using today and what shaft?

Thanks...

I am using the Zan medium. The grip hard is too hard for my liking and the soft and premium soft require too much maintenance to eliminate the mushrooming.

About 5-6 months ago I switched back from the Mezz ignite carbon fiber shaft to the Mezz EX pro shaft, which I prefer. It gives me way more feel / feedback than the carbon fiber.

Thanks for the info.

I've never used the Zan until a custom cue maker (BROMINE cues) came to my house to play and I hit a few balls with his cue.

I really liked the hit. It was a zan premium soft, but it was played in and only had two layers left on the sidewall.

So, I'm hoping the premium soft will hit a little harder after it plays in.

Thanks for your time sir. Have a great day!

So, speaking of tip replacement: I live in a somewhat remote area along the California Central Coast. I was wondering... does anyone have any recommendations on where to get quality shaft and tip work done? I would like to change some tips from time to time, and also I have an old Helmstetter on which I would like to have the linen wrap replaced. The linen is a light color, not sure if the soiling from 40 years of play can really be cleaned.

I am thinking I will be shipping stuff for this type of repair/restoration... but who/where does good work? I am particularly interested in having nice true dime radius on my tips. Doing these with little gadgets by hand, they just dont turn out like a true machined radius.

When I lived in SF there were lots of places to do this type of work within a 30 minute drive on a Saturday. San Luis Obispo?... not so much. Post Covid we barely have any pool halls left here. Only 3 decent ones that I can think of within a 30 minute drive. And one not so decent one. lol

Are the hybrid max in stock anywhere yet? I had one for awhile, but I sold that cue. I always meant to give it another try, but I haven't been able to find one.

From what I know there isn't anyone who does it in the central Coast. I live in buellton area, and I have to send my cues off to billiards direct, and the last time I had it done, I sent my shafts to seyberts, and paid both ways for shipping. It's ridiculous that no one replaces tips.

Found a few on eBay for 35 bucks plus shipping. Can't remember the sellers name, but he has a few.

Thanks! Totally bought one. Been wanting to give that another try. I had one before and I didn't care for it, but it was on a weird cue and I don't think I gave it a fair chance.

Right on, I'm glad I could help. I use the regular Zan medium plus on my rogue shafts and love them. I needed two new mediums and found the hybrid max when I was searching. It's insane they are still out of stock everywhere.

I am thinking of trying Tiger Billiards in Burbank - either driving down on a weekend, or shipping there. I have heard they are very good, excellent even, and you can have a tip or even shaft reconditioning within an hour while waiting and they even tables to try things out on.
