    best cuemakers

No one has mentioned John Robinson. He has some absolutely beautiful designs. John makes his joint with the pin in the shaft. While it is extremely strong and gives a great hit, most players are turned off by it. Too bad, his work is second to none. I had the butt of one of his cues re-wrapped...

    Good books to read.

No one mentioned The Hustler by Walter Tevis, the reason for pools ressurgence in the 60's.

    ??? on buying a table...

I know your husband wants a new table but the difference in price between a new and a used table is staggering. I bought a used Brunswick Orleans 15 years ago for $1600. At the time the table retailed for $4,500. It would probably be closer to $7000 now.

Has anybody heard anything about the rejuvination of the Reno Open? I heard they were going to crank it up again in Nov. or Dec.

    Mental problems

When that happens to me it usually is because I have jumped ahead. I see myself running the rack instead of making the next shot.

Hustling / Was Eddie a dirtbag in TCOM?

The movie had nothing to do with the book. The stories are totally different. Everybody gets a kick out of a guy playing someone else for a sucker and pulling it off. But the people that get a kick out of it will also have nothing to do with the hustler. Hard core pool is a world of it's own...

    Why pool struggles

If first place at a pool tournament was a million dollars, the field would split it up. Most people are unable to appreciate the intricacies and nuance of pool. It is a game that has no pofessional orginization, hence no following. The average viewer cannot identify with the players.

    Dumping money matches !

Did anyone read Danny Diliberto's "Road Player"? He made it sound common place to dump. It's no wonder we see so many luke warm challenge matches when the purse is being cut up. There are no circumstances that justify a dump.

Do professional pool players really enjoy playing?

It's hard to imagine pool being fun when even the best can't make a decent living at it. Mike Davis seems to be one who derives all of his money from pool and enjoys it. You would have to place in the top 2 of almost every tournament to make a living after expenses.

Rules Question in Match at Texas Open

How is this rule so different from other rules? I've had guys walk up to the table as if they were going to give me a shot and then say "Naw, go ahead and shoot it." It eliminates the chance for misunderstanding or sharking. As with any rule, if you break it there is a penalty. Are pool players...

Anyone who has played in a tournament that was run poorly can appreciate Paul and Lewis. Always a class act. Best of luck Paul.

    Kudos to Big Truck

Anyone who was able to watch any of the great matches that were on the live feed from The Texas Open is indebted to Ray. I know there was little if any money in it. We are fortunate to be able to share in his enthusiasm for the game. Many thanks Big Truck for your time and effort.

    Playing with Souquet

I drew Ralph in the first round of the losers bracket in Dec. 1998,in Reno.Even though I have not played in a lot of high level tournaments, I have had some unbelievable draws in the ones I did play. Corey Duel, Gabe Owens, Jeremy Jones, Kim Davenport, you get the picture. None of them were more...
