Full length core instead of A joint?

Has anyone ever experimented with a full length core from the butt sleeve to the joint pin? Any reason it wouldn't work or is a bad idea? I see a lot of cues using an A joint construction method so I'm guessing that's the correct way to do it, but I have a nagging thought that a single core...

Noob question, is my cutting bit dull?

I got a MidAmerican about a month ago. I’ve done quite a bit of work on the pool hall’s house cues and worked on some old shafts etc. I’m just taking it slow and trying to learn as I go. Anyway, this weekend I put a new ferrule on my old McDermott. It seemed as if the tip end of the ferrule...

Looking for a somewhat recent post with test pics of glue joint at ferrule.

I've been googling and looked 15 pages back... 🥵 Recently there was a post where a cuemaker was experimenting with different methods for gluing a ferrule on to get cleaner glue lines without CA bleeding into the shaft wood. I think it involved wood glue, tinted/dyed epoxy etc. I can't find it...

Looking for Pool Books with a Conversational Style

So there are some books that really click with me, and others that don't. I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions. Books that click: Mastering Pool by George Fels Anything by Freddy the Beard Wagon Wheel System by Ted G. Brown The Pleasure of Small Motions Playing to Win by BC21 Magazine...

What size wrench for Valley leg leveler?

I'm going to help level a few tables here in a few days. What size wrench is used on the leg levelers? I know most can be turned by hand but just in case I'd like to have the correct wrench with me.

    Drills for jump cues?

I've searched to my ability and can't find much on this. I want to get a bit more serious about jumping. Does anyone have drill ideas, or a way to "gamify" it? They don't have to be complicated drills or anything, but I'd appreciate any thoughts on this. The only thing I can think of is...

    Interesting article on over-training

I thought this article was worth sharing. Pool isn't as physical as running, but we can easily become overtaxed mentally, or for those of us without perfect bodies you can really overdo it in pool. Sometimes it can be hard to realize we've overdone it, the game is interesting and it's easy to...

    Good video about SIT compensation.

I just found this guy's videos and they seem to be really good. He's talking about spin induced throw (SIT) and how it effects shots. I really like his style, he's thorough without getting overly technical. Just thought I'd pass it along for anyone interested.

Cool new insert for Bucket Polisher:

I saw this on reddit and had a buddy print this for me. I ended up using hot glue to glue felt to the ring. It seems to do a great job. The 3d files are listed in the above link. Really nice of him to upload the files for everyone to use.

    9 ball odd situation

9 ball, 3 ball is hanging in the pocket on a miss. Opponent shoots, misses 3 ball but the cue ball contacting the rail vibrates the table enough that the 3 falls. What is the rule on this?

What should an average player, looking to improve do when...

What should an average player, looking to improve do when they are in a situation they don't know what to do? In the past I've just hit half ball hit with spin, one way or the other, whichever feels right. I know this isn't the answer, but what should a person do when they don't know what the...

Split leather pockets, how to fix or reinforce

I recently noticed the leather over the irons was starting to split on my drop pocket Olhausen. I ordered a new set. Is there a way to reinforce the area where the split occurred? I’d rather do this before installing. I’d imagine it’s a common scenario and would like to hear some ideas. Thanks!

JBM practitioners, I have a question. SERIOUS REPLIES ONLY PLEASE!

Does anyone know any high melting point Jelly Beans? I accidentally put mine through the washer and dryer in my pants. Maybe there isn't a jelly bean that won't melt in those conditions... Could I clear coat them? Clear epoxy maybe? If it's not possible, are there any brands of JB that...

Bent knees stance, what to know?

Recently I started having horrible pain from my regular stance. I'm 6' tall. I've never bent my knees while shooting. I had my old stance locked in air tight. This is no longer an option. It feels like I'm standing in a fire pit while on the shot. This has been going on for a month and I feel...

Drills to get rid of draw loving "trick shot" syndrome?

I'm getting the competition experience in but would like some drills to work on at the practice table. There's just so many drills out there it's hard to pick one or for someone without the knowledge to even properly analyze which are worthwhile. I'd like something to work on natural angles...
