Where is the cue ball going to go? Tried and true learning method?

Thank you all for the comments. Last night I found an apparently well-known drill and tailored it to my brain this morning. I will post pics and details later. I totally get where all of you are coming from with regard to feel vs "math/calculations." Thats what I want and where I've been...

Where is the cue ball going to go? Tried and true learning method?

Hello. Is there a tried and true method (drill) for training my brain to know where a centerball-shot CB is going to go with only natural roll after striking the OB ? I'm confounded by this after many false starts at trying to grasp it so I just want to head on the right path this time. I...

    measle ball

Measle ball is the same as a standard CB. If you look through my posts you can find a thread where you can see my measle ball on a scale with a standard aramith ball.

    Room Size your personal EXP!

Room for a table was one of my requirements, too. I have an L shaped living/dining room. The table sits in a section 25' long and most of the table sits in an area of 25' wide open. However about the first 1 1/2 diamonds at the head of the table sits in a 13'11" wide area, too small by most...

    Position or Shotmaking?

Robert Byrne has written that position play is more important than being able to make tough shots. It's rather obvious. It doesn't mean you can suck at shooting but it's clear to me. I used to be a very good shot maker and I'd still regularly lose to most people in tournaments...cuz they never...

    Cushion Rubber

Uh oh. I have to admit that I haven't played on a table other than mine since getting it but I didn't notice having to adjust for these cushions. I'll report back after I go to the pool hall or two and see if my brain's bank calibration is all messed up for non-Klebatch now.

    Table Setup

If you want your table to be very precise, hire a mechanic. There are installers who do it everyday who can't do it right. Unless you are really competent as a do it yourselfer, you might not be happy w your result.

How Would You Play This Layout?

I'd like to see the stroke that you use to put the CB behind a ball that isn't on the table. My apologies if I'm missing it but I'm pretty sure it's not there. So critical of anothers valid opinion...

    Cushion Rubber

I have P-59 on my GC and it plays just like any nice pool hall table, and I've sent a table back before for not playing like a good pool hall table! And if you dont trust tht then....the mechanic chose the material and if he chose it then it's among the best if not the best.

I quit league... and found my focus again.

Sounds bad. I was.thinking of joining a league but not now....I moved to the Chicago suburbs from Chicago and miss shooting against good players (no serious pool halls near me). Is there any place on this site to match up with local players?

    Billiard shoes • finally

Funny, just the other day I was playing in slippers instead of gym shoes and my break was weak so I was gonna put up a joke post asking "best shoes for billiards?" Gimme a break. NPI!

Did I take up the wrong sport?

Good pool playing abilities, let alone great, take too much brain power for most people and "close" almost never counts for anything in pool whereas there are all sorts of ways to score by accident in darts and cards. Bluffing doesn't exist in pool and luck isn't a big enough factor to win...

    Ideal pocket size for 14.1

I'm only a 9 baller with 4.5 and even i sometimes miss the ability to cheat more pocket and casual players really have a hard time on my table. There is a thread somewhere in here with much more experienced people opining and I recall them preferring bigger pockets for your game.

    Starting over after 4 years

I've taken years-long layoffs many times and always come back strong as ever just going back to shooting in games. I was never particularly good at getting shape, I'm just talking about shot-making. I recently got my first table at home and spent a couple of months pretty much setting up...

Get Rid of that Measle Ball!

+1. I'm gonna start using my rempe ball sometimes and compare what it does to my game . It's far lighter. On page 5 or 6 or so are pics on my CB'S on a scale.
