Don't have a clue why anyone that posted a video would have a problem with Dave providing the link to it. But, if anyone does, they can simply make the video private at any point and then no one else can see it. Or they can just remove it.
Well stated.

Also, I'm pretty sure every link in the list was posted by the players in this thread (with the exception of Marc Vidal, who gave me permission to record him and post the videos)!

If people want to post just scores and no videos, that is fine with me. I trust that people who dedicate time to the exams will be honest with their posted scores (although, if somebody posted really high scores, I and others would probably want to see the videos ... not just to verify the scores, but to also enjoy, appreciate, and learn from them).

For the official BU diplomas, videos or examination by a BU instructor is required.

Regards,
Dave

Are all these players OK with you sharing their videos?

I mean some of those videos are unlisted with a private link, probably for your eyes only.

Just wondrin....
FYI, if the links are to private videos, they won't be viewable by anyone (except the people specifically designated by the owner).

Dave

Anybody have FargoRate ratings they want to share? If so, I would be happy to add them to the table to see how they correlate with the BU, 10-ball, and 15-ball rating scores.

Dave

Keith,

How's your practice coming on the exams? Please consider posting scores (and videos if available) soon, even if you are not totally satisfied with the numbers. It is interesting to see how much somebody can improve over time compared to their scores on the first attempts at the exams.

Regards,
Dave

Will you be posting scores (and videos if possible) soon?
Hopefully. I have everything printed out, now to just actually take the time to do everything.

Dave,

I still owe you the scores of my better half and I.

Thanks for getting Marc to post his video, I got a lot out of seeing his pattern play. Hopefully his posting will prompt more of the better players to post their videos as well.

Dennis
Dennis,

Do you still plan to post scores (and videos if available) for you and Angie?

I look forward to seeing how your games have progressed.

Regards,
Dave

hi dave, found the website today.

waiting for my camera to set it up officialy.
did the first exam as a quick test and got only a 69 out of it. 9ft 4.5's diamond pro will do some training and then do all the exams on video when i feel i'm ready.

I watched your runs, guess your highscore wasn't your first try either? or must the score be the first try you do this test? after some practice you do find some "tricks" and i'm sure i should get at least 75-80 in exam I.
Please post both your Exam I and Exam II scores (with your table info) after you give them both a go, that way we can see how much you can improve over time.

You can post new scores for either or both exams in the future to improve your total and your ranking.

Good luck,
Dave
Did you ever get a chance to run through Exam II? If so, please post your best scores to date (and videos if available).

Good luck,
Dave

You're welcome ... and thank you!

I aim to swerve. ;)

Going through the BU exams found holes in my game i didnt know were there!
The BU exams also exposed "holes" in my game, and the hard work I put into mastering the exams (to the best of my current ability) really helped bring my game up to the next level.

That's what it is all about ... getting better with dedicated and focused practice (and not just random play).

Dave

Thank you for posting. I've added you to the list.

Please also post your shelf depth when you get a chance so I can add it. Also, please consider also doing the 10-ball-ghost rating drill so I can add that score for comparison purposes.

And if you redo either or both of the BU Exams in the future, and do better, please post the score(s) (and videos if available) so I can update your entry.

Dave

Glad to see this thread is finally a sticky. Or has it been for a while and I haven't noticed it?

I was also glad to see it get stuck. It just happened today. It was Keith's idea. Thanks Keith! Thanks also to the mods for doing it.

Neil, isn't it about time for you to go for a perfect score on Exam II again? Nobody's done it yet, but I'm sure it's just a matter of time before somebody aces the Masters Exam II. The Doctorate Exam II is another matter. I can't imagine anybody ever acing that beast.

Regards,
Dave

ssshhh..... This week I started on it again. Up to the banks for a perfect score so far. I gotta tell ya though, that last bank is a real toughy on a bar box! Got the others 10 in a row, but the last one, well, my best is four in a row, and only did that a couple of times. It takes an extremely accurate hit. I'm working on a perfect score (hopefully, lol), but do intend to improve my score at least on the masters before I get to bad to play at all.

Got a new medicine in addition to my old medicine which has helped quite a bit. But the heat and humidity lately has been rough on me.

The trick to a perfect score though, is to do it all in one take. You are right, it will take a lot to do.

p.s.- next time you are on a barbox, set up that last bank on the masters and give it a whirl. See what you think of it compared to doing it on an 8' or 9' table and let me know.

Dave, what do you think about adding to your list and not just putting the total score, but the score of each test? Would that be too much work to bother with? I think it would be nice for people to compare how they did on each test with others instead of just both tests.

Sounds good (except for the last part). Maybe I'll give a perfect score the "old college try" also.

That's good to hear about the medicine. I hope the weather turns around for you soon too. It is already starting to cool a bit in Colorado ... Fall is on the way.

Agreed. The banks are definitely the tester. But with enough practice, I think one can get them fairly "locked in."

I think the difficulty of those back-cut banks can depend a lot on equipment and conditions (even among bar boxes); although, fast speed with gearing outside english makes them much easier and more consistent (on all equipment), IMO.

Dave
