Billiard University (BU) playing-ability-exam scores and ratings

So your best combined score to date (taking the best score for each exam) is 82. I've edited the list (see below) to include this instead of the 71 you posted. Anytime somebody posts an improved score (on either or both exams), I have been updating the list with the current best combined score.

I hope you will reconsider because part of the purpose for this was to see how well the BU rating correlates with the 10-ball-ghost rating.

Regards,
Dave

I'm glad you've switched over to Skills Exam. I think your chances of increasing your Exam II score are much better than with Exam I. That Fundamentals Exam can sometimes be brutal and demoralizing.

I look forward to seeing a new PR from you on video soon.

Good luck,
Dave

I can't be bothered - along with the vast majority of this board, it seems. :(

And why is that? It's only two hours of good practice. All the info Dr. Dave has put on this forum for free, and you can't be bothered to even give him two hours of your time in return to help him with something he is doing??

No. And I'm not alone...

Neil,

I didn't post this stuff on AZB to get people to "help me with something I'm doing," but I appreciate your efforts to get more people involved. Admittedly, I am interested to see how much people can improve their scores over time. I'd also like to see more results to know how well the BU and 10-ball-ghost ratings correlate for people over wide ranges of ability. But the main reason I posted the thread is I thought people would be interested and excited to be involved.

Originally, I did expect more people to post scores and videos; however, the number who have participated is fairly decent compared to what is typical with this sort of thing on AZB. Honestly, I've been very happy with the level of participation; although, it would be nice to see more, especially at a higher playing level. I think a lot of AZB users would love to see BU Exam videos posted by some top players to see what is possible. I would.

I thought the scores and videos already posted would get other people's competitive juices flowing to post good scores and improve their scores over time as many of us have done. Also, people often seem to want to know what level they play at and how they compare to others. This is their chance. Also, as you have pointed out, the purposeful practice the BU Exams provide can help people improve their level of play. The BU Exam practice has certainly helped my game go up a notch.

Hopefully, more people will decide to post scores and videos. I've certainly enjoyed it, and I'm sure others would also.

Catch you later,
Dave

Sounds good. I look forward to seeing how much you can improve.

After you get the whole process down with the iPhone (mounting, recording, and Youtube posting), please let us know if you have advice for other people who might want to do the same. In other words, please post your "lessons learned" after you finish your learning.

Catch you later,
Dave

Has anybody else used a smart phone to record exam videos. If so, please post any advice or "lessons learned" you might have.

Thanks,
Dave

I'm not sure what my maximum recording time is yet - but I have previously recorded 15 minute clips no problems. I haven't uploaded anything of that time length to youtube yet though.
