My question is why do you need to lock in two visuals to aim for center CB,
I know that two lines gives the correct vision and perspective which allows you to sweep to CCB. However I've been lining up the edge of the object ball with either ABE
Then I see a line coming straight from the CCB towards myself from my side of the cue ball facing my then I ROTATE either left or right on that line of the CCB with a sweep and the balls drop.
I know this is not exactly the way it's taught but I've found this much easier.
I would like some feed back as to why this is not the way it should be done.
The video always states I can see two lines 100% of the time throughout.
In the Pro One instruction Stan quotes that as you rotate the lines are going to change which is 100% correct however I've also always found that the edges of the CB also changes when you rotate.
Thanks for reading.
You might want to PM or e-mail Stan or post this in a thread dealing with CTE or Pro One, where you might find a larger number of people who use these systems.

I personally recommend the DAM system of aiming.

Good luck,
Dave

Should be good to go now.
It works now. I just ran through both videos. I can see why you were disappointed on the safety drill. I bet you will get a lot more of those points next time.

Good shooting,
Dave

Have you tried the BU Exams yet? If not, please give them a try; and when you do, please consider posting your scores and videos. It would be interesting to see how your version of Pro One works at the table.

Dave

Below is the latest updated data.

Are we going to see some improved scores and new videos this week (maybe from Neil, iusedtoberich, or mamics)? How about some posts by people not on the list yet?

Thanks,
Dave

Dr Dave, I have just completed my post on a 7' table vs a 9' table for playing 14.1. Feel free to check it out on the link above.

For another time, I'd like to discuss the TDF. In summary, I think you give significantly more weight to the pocket design than the table size. You have 3 multiplication factors all tied to the pocket design, but only one multiplication factor tied to the table size. I feel the opposite is true. To be discussed further in the coming weeks... I need a break:)

Thanks for the link. I'll check out your info. I don't have much experience with straight pool on tables of different sizes, but I would certainly expect the game to be much, much easier on a smaller table with bigger pockets.

When you get a chance, post table info on the Table Diffciulty Factor (TDF) thread along with your opinions for how well the TDF numbers for those tables match your perception of the level of difficulty (for a wide range of player abilities, and for all games on average). I think the current factors do a very good job for all of the tables currently listed in the thread, but I'm still open to more input and suggestions.

To me, the two main factors are table size (TSF) and pocket size (PSF). I see the pocket angle (PAF) and shelf depth (PLF) simply as modifiers to the PSF, used to adjust for pocket geometry effects (especially for special or unusual cases). I think the weight currently given to table size is appropriate. A 10' table currently has a TSF (1.10) that is about 30% more difficult than a 7' table (TSF=0.85). That's significant compared to the pocket factors over a typical and reasonable range of pocket sizes and geometries. Again, if you don't agree with the data in the TDF thread for the tables already posted, feel free to suggest improvements.

Catch you later,
Dave

Just curious, but have any of the board's instructors completed this?

Would be a good marketing tool them, I would have thought.

Just off the top of my head, I see six on the list a few posts above yours. So, that would be a "yes".

Yes. Quite a few have, and I hope more do so in the future. However, I would expect that only instructors who are currently very good players would be interested. And the best instructors aren't always the best players because they spend more of their time and energy on being good instructors rather than being top players. I can understand why because it is a lot easier to earn a living being a top instructor than it is being a top player.

Also, a significant commitment is required to put in the practice and filming time necessary to post a really good score, so I can understand if people who are very busy traveling and teaching can't find the time.

BTW, if you want to see which instructors have participated, here's the complete list of instructors and here's the complete list of official BU graduates.

Regards,
Dave

Who are the six?
Wow. You are really lazy. The answer can be easily found via the two links I provided above. But to help you out, here are the BU instructors who are currently on both lists:

Ekkhard "Ekkes" Schneider-Lombard
Dr. Dave Alciatore
Gerald Williams
Tom Simpson
Neil Dryfhout
Randy Russell

Regards,
Dave

PS: How's that video coming along? ;)

It isn't that hard. All you had to do was check which names were on both the list of BU instructors page and the list of official BU graduates page. It took me about 30 seconds.

How are your BU Exam and 10-ball-ghost videos coming along? I look forward to seeing them. Maybe your videos will help encourage others like you to post. I know ... I shouldn't hold my breadth. :grin-square:

I decided that Pathetic Shark's posts don't really add anything of value to the forum so I put him on ignore. Now the only time I see his posts are when one you quotes him. I actually find the forum much more readable this way. I suggest you all try it.

The latest results are below. Hopefully, people reading this thread for the first time, and those who haven't participated yet, will find time to give the exams and 10-ball-ghost drill a try this Holiday Season. If you do, please post your results (and video links if available).

Dave
