Any one at the DCC can play for money, you just can't rail bird or side
bet in other words.

Nick Schulman is back on the table... against Bart.

And Carl (casino) is in the house l, chirping for 5 very large bags of sand...per game... on a bar box.

Yeah, action is light.

Freddie <~~~ no rail bets, because that would be illegal.

What I find shocking is:
-2 poker players mentioned here Hennigan and Schulman are not even top tier elite poker players (they won some WSOP bracelets but no main event win) and their earnings are already around $7 million
-Hennigan, a part time pool player (ex- pro player) can play with pool's top elite full time player albeit getting some weight

The rich millionaires from other sports (think poker, snooker) can come try steal lunch from pool players. Lose they lose peanuts but when pool player like Dennis lose $30K that is probably most of his prizemoney for all the DCC events he wins :D
Really sad state of pool. Heck I will go be a poker player

The "top tier" poker players are the ones who play in the BIGGEST games, and these two do, all over the world! Many of the more well known poker pros who have more bracelets and more tournament winnings are not going to play in the games that Johnny World (and Nick) play in regularly. And they are both winning players in that upper echelon of poker.

For John and Nick, playing a five to ten thousand dollar tournament is not their best action or nearly their biggest. FYI, they are both among the poker elite!

Who is he playing?

Scoot. Carl breaks wet and gets a clean look. Gets to the 5, but no shot. Plays a crappy safe. Scooter has a tough shot to get out of easy shot, or can go safe wiith five balls left. He elects to shoot... And dogs it badly. Carl makes two ball, one of which is the last four.

He breaks the 37 man corporation.

Next game.

True, Keone, but I think this game is more like 1 ball/1 pocket. Both are trying to move the 9 ball towards their pocket first. And, if you get the 9 ball close to your hole, your opponent is gonna knock it away from your pocket.

Obviously, the catch is that if both players are playing run out Pool, Orcullo will mostly be banking for the win and Flakes will cut most of his 9 balls in.

Huh? They were playing back pocket 9 ball but with a front to a back handicap. This is the most common handicap in that game. It's still back pocket not one pocket.

Putting the 9 in a fixed location after the break is also quite common when the skill variation is very large. Sometimes it's put on the spot.

John vs Dennis

I caught this match and it presented Dennis with many challenges. John made a handful mistakes but still managed to run out on a few occasions. And the racks in which Dennis appeared to be in control were lost once it came to the end game of one ball and one pocket per man. Dennis seemed to favor playing position for the two rail bank. If he failed to pocket it, or lock it in the jaws, he found himself in a place of great difficulty. John moved very well with one ball on the table and managed a win or two with a superior kick game. I would like to mention I have the highest respect for Dennis's ability and certainly do not wish to sound critical. I think this is a bad game for him in it's present form. I am sure he will study where he failed and craft a new plan for the next contest. Of course, I am sure John will also prepare for their next meeting. I hope I am around when/if it takes place. At the end of this match, several highly skilled players in the room were sharing their opinions on how best to overcome this particular game. The common theme shared by all was to move the nine out on a safety, or offensive play, as soon as possible. It will be interesting to see what the next round of this match up holds after both sides do more research.

Does this mean Scooter's reality show is over?

Since it was a 10-ball rack, was the 9-ball racked in the the center where the 10 would normally go?
no 10 ball racked in the center

did not matter really because 9 always spotted same place

10 taken down so what difference could it make

I would say both are similar, depending on interpretation. Obviously, the common theme is that both are playing for only one pocket. However, the biggest difference in my mind, is that the 9 ball always starts out frozen to the middle of the back rail. Thats consistent with 1 ball/1pocket.

So played this setup last night with a teammate from my pool league. I'm a 7 and she is a 3 (APA). I played the same hole as Dennis did and she played the same hole as John. Race to 11. She beat me 11-9. I’m going to have to remember this setup for when some cocky kid wants to play after a tournament .

Yeah In back pocket that is a crazy spot and Dennis was 100% in a trap there. No chance at winning that match once the mobey was right. It was a stall the first set without a doubt to get the backer to jack it up.
