I have dealt with him for 8 years and he's a stand up guy.

Why did it take you 6 months to pay $25 for a $70 job? I'll bet Jeff is happy he doesn't have to deal with you anymore.

What part about Brad asking him if had change for a $100 to pay for the $25 do you not understand at the time it was done? Try to keep up...

Can't believe some here are trying to justify this behavior.

A few phone calls inside of a week in no way equates to a buyer failing to come through with payment.

No place of business anywhere in this country would operate in that way.

There should be a process to realize delivery before considering selling off someone's ordered cue. Its a part of doing business.

I have a set plan with my customers.

Week one 2-3 phone calls/PM/emails. If no response I send additional email/PM's going into the second week. At 15 days you get a letter in the mail. At 30 days you get a certified letter giving you 10 business days to respond or forfeit deposit.

Hell even if you special order furniture or a car you have 15 days to claim before you get a certified letter giving you 10 days to respond.

There's just no justify selling off an ordered cue. I don't care if he took a deposit or not.

Wasn't me, he was talking about someone else.
And I know the story and Jeff was lying again.

lol, no were you????

You trying to call someone out making a statement that he couldn't afford the $25 to pay in 6 months when you weren't there is beyond lol...oh and yes I know not only Brad but Brian and I am pretty sure the funds were and are not an issue.

I see you edited your post to add:

down to the usual "pick one"

The thread seems to have came down to the usual pick one. Any of you could be being a bit less than honest on the forum, a good chance that all of you are spinning the story pretty hard to suit yourselves. Who knows?

One question: I see high end cue written over and over, what kind of dollars are we talking about? Somewhat idle curiosity but I find it odd that the same term is used over and over. "High end" covers a range of tens of thousands of dollars depending on who is using the term.

On to other things I have noticed in the thread: The buyers and Jeff seem to have a track record of slow and sloppy dealings as far as delivery and payments on both sides. Jeff pretty much said point blank he needed to sell the cue and get paid now. I doubt seriously that the buyer couldn't find two hours to go grab the cue and pay for it. He didn't see the need to, possibly Jeff didn't make that as clear as he could have, probably should have based on past dealings. Jeff very much felt the need to get the cue moved and get some cash if I am reading correctly. It reads like all of you have been headed for a train wreck and it finally happened.

Remy... You would believe Jeff if he told you it was a good idea to blow Dudes.. Nevermind.
Point has already been made.

I was given 4 days. 2 of which were part of the weekend.. and I should have told my Son and family that buying a cue was more important then my sons birthday. Stupid me...

once again,,, never was told....... come buy this cue or else...

Never had a bad deal until now... Jeff explained a repair he did. he is confused.
he is the one who said it would take 1 month to repair. 2 weeks later its done.
cue was picked up within 4-5 days. if he needed the $50 that bad, he never let me know that.

You're right there could be some dishonesty or incomplete story telling from either party but in the end no matter the particulars you don't move someone's order after a few days because "you need to get paid".

Deposit or no deposit. No other business operates this way. Don't accept orders if this is how you do business, its misleading and dishonest. Someone's poor financial state is not an excuse to move someone else's order.

All that was stated(without dispute) was that the cue maker made a series of calls inside of week...then sold off.

Who operates that way? Its seems pretty clear that since he had another buyer he wasn't going to give the OP any benefit of the doubt or make an real legitimate attempt to deliver the cue. He was looking for any excuse he could find to take the cash he needed right then and there. Sounds like a personal problem to me.

If this were a small claims court he would have had to make a concision effort to deliver and that usually consists of at least one round of certified mail and certainly not inside of a week.

A verbal agreement is a contract. What happened to the time when someone's word was sufficient? The guy waits years then the cue maker decides it is justified to sell the cue out from under him because he wasn't there within 72 hours of being advised? Really?

This appears to be real simple. Olney had a chance to quadruple his money and leaped at it then made up an excuse to the OP in order to justify his actions. Assuming what the OP posted is accurate, Olney has made it clear his integrity is worth somewhere between zero and whatever 3x the price he quoted the cue to the OP is.

I believe Texas is the only state to legally recognize a verbal agreement and a handshake as a binding legal contract.

wrong...

I believe Texas is the only state to legally recognize a verbal agreement and a handshake as a binding legal contract.

All verbal agreements made anywhere are binding...

The only thing is that verbal agreements are impossible to prove when there is contestation as to what the verbal agreement entailed.

The custom cue being designed by buyer A and then being sold to buyer B for more money Is not an uncommon story. Ive seen this happen in Bill Schicks shop before. He handles it much different. He will give buyer B the contact info for buyer A and let the two buyers work something out. He never personally takes more for the cue. That's how a true Legend handles these issues.

The incoherent ramblings of another dishonest cue builder. Put him on the list with the zinzolas, gracios, and peppers of the world. A repeat customer waits for years for custom cue and you sell it from under him after four days, wow.

I agree with this 100%.

Pretty F***ked up move by Jeff.
