I agree, winner breaks is the way to go.
When I watch the US Open, I want to see those huge packages.. the bigger, the better.

Hugh packages on the streamed matches at the US Open 9-Ball Championships are fairly rare. The largest over the past 5 Opens were:

2014 -- 4-pack, 2 times in 33 matches

2013 -- 3-pack, 5 times in 34 matches

2012 -- 5-pack, once in 37 matches (by Eckert). Next highest -- 3-pack, 8 times.

2011 -- 6-pack, once in 39 matches (by Klatt, who lost the match to Appleton). Next highest -- 3-pack, 4 times.

2010 -- 6-pack, once in the 20 matches I watched in full. This was the famous Immonen/Klatt match, with a 6-pack Immonen), a 3-pack (Klatt), and a 4-pack (Immonen) in 15 games, interrupted by two dry breaks. Other than that match, the highest was a 3-pack, 6 times.

I'm kicking around the idea of playing in the US OPEN. Do I need to be registered as a pro or can anyone enter the tournament?

Thanks
Hell yes! Put up the cash and soak up every minute of our OPEN Championship. Hanging around the practice room is worth every dime. Look at it as a vacation where you can watch and play against the best.

That's bucket list IMO.
