I was the billiards instructor at UCLA for a short period of time in the 1980's. I taught a class in Pool, Billiards and Snooker (they had all three in the game room). Not really a team per se, but a bunch of kids who loved the game. They actually got one credit for taking the course.
Now that's a surprise. I had some music tutoring in the 70s from a teacher there. He mentioned he played pool but fathead noob kid that I was didn't want to embarrass him so it went no further. :ROFLMAO:

Predator's WPA Women's World 9 Ball

Aren’t all of the US women’s players pretty much chaff at these top level events? Assuming you exclude all of the ladies that have relocated here like Kristina/Margaret, who does we even have anywhere near world class? We’re pretty much dead money on the men’s and women’s sides these days outside of SVB…
Savannah Easton and Sofia Mast are coming on strong.

Yeah but you see the American way is lit by quick return or nuthin. Pool going globe viral is not making a bit of difference to the "American way" and to a significantly lesser degree, the American edition of world pool.

Pool is in many ways more fine art than sport or game. If you need to, go check the fine arts catalogs of any American institution worth their preaching.
So maybe it's a skill. Do same for law schools and medical schools.
Maybe it's just technical stuff. You can find fix car institutions all over the country.
Throw in the DOD for competitive readiness.

I recall UCLA had a billiards team. Haven't come across word one on their activities. Maybe Bob Jewett would know.

Bill Maropolis?

He's busy racing around on his hot rod. He takes her everywhere. One time a couple of years ago I took my wife to a remote section of the Southern California mountains. Only little mountain towns up there, and one particular watering hole was mostly for bikers. Who comes cruising but Bill in his little T Bucket ride.

I don't see the American way as a quick return or nothing, I see it as the land of opportunity, not the land of guarantees, you can work hard and fail but at least it's your call, many who had nothing became great, many who were given great wealth through family squandered it, this is where your pursuit of excellence comes in, you define your excellence, for some being the MVP of their APA league is enough, for some only world's greatest will do.....
That's the dream. The reality besides all the hard work for startups is the shitty deals you need in place to prop the smile you want to have. And still hasn't a lot to do with the decline of American pool.
