I just put my name in a list to have a Hercek cue built. I went to his website and liked what I saw on how he builds cues. I have never hit with one of his cues. Has anyone here hiy with a Hercek? How would you rate it? What would you compare it to? I have a limited range of cues I have played with. I currently use a Schon with a 314 shaft. But I have played with Sruggs, Harry Richards, Dale Perry, Bludworth, Woodworth, and of course Joss and Meucci(what poolplayer hasn't Played with a Joos or Meucci at least one time in thier life). One of the Scruggs I hit with was over 20yrs old and I loved it. Very solid and stiff, and I could move the ball around the table with ease. Why not order a Scruggs instead, you may ask... I want to, but I heard Tim is no longer buiding his cues... I could be wrong...

IMO, it hits closest to a Scruggs from what you have mentioned.

I got on the list about a year ago, as Joel's cues are touched by the hand of God before being mailed to you and I.

are you just gonna get it and just slap your 314 on it?

I hope he doesn't. The last thing I am going to do after waiting 5-6 years for a Hercek is put a damn predator on it...lol.

I, too, put my name on his list about a year ago.

HELL no... I have been wanting to stop playing with the 314 for a while, but I am so use to it. If i could buy the 20yr old scruggs I mentioned before, I would never use a 314 again. I will eventually go back to using my schon shaft and wean myself from the 314...

Hi, my name is Danny and I am a 314 addict...

just stop cold turkey........if you wean yourself you know that that makes you right?

yep..........a weanner

I want to get 3 matching cues for my dad, brother, and myself. I figure $6000 over 6 yrs is not bad.

Question #1: yep
Question #2: On a scale of 1-10...10
Question #3: It's in a league of it's own

Unsolicited comment: All of you guys that are on the list have a lot to look forward to. Be patient...Santa Claus will come one day and it'll be worth the wait. If you've never believed what I've said before....believe THAT!!

I haven't heard that Tim isn't making cues. Did you get this from Tim?

http://www.timscruggs.com/

I sent him a email and will post his reply.

Bought one second hand, (Cost a leg) but was worth it. The man is an artist. I have been on the list for two Herceks for two years now.

Joel Hercek makes a fine cue. My cue plays great, outstanding workmanship. I rate the cue a ten. Send me your email address and I will email you photos of my cue. I'm unable to post the photos on this site, the pics are to large.

Regards,
Charles

when my dad used to ask me "if all the other kids jumped off a bridge, would you?" to be a smartass i'd say yes............well i gotta be like all the other kids here now................

how do you get on the list?

how much is his average cue, and what percentage of down payment does he want?

and does he just make one for you, or do you design it?

Check out his site: Hercek Cues

Very informative on a number of levels.

To ask to be added to the list you need to email him at: joel@hercek.com

He will need your full name, address & phone number. When I asked to be added, he got back to me personally (I assume) in less than 24 hours.

I think the list is over 5 years now, so who knows what the price will be by then, lol. As per his site, he only builds full spliced, veneered cues with maple forearms. Beyond that I think you can custom design your own cue.

Funny little side from his site: He uses fine Irish linen for his standard wrap, but leather is available as an upgrade. You can have any grain and color you like as long as it's smooth black, lol. :D

His price today for a bottom of the line cue, 4 points, veneers(you cannot get a Hercek without veneers), rings at the joint and below the wrap, 2 shafts with ivory ferrules, irish linen wrap, and joint protectors, is $1500. Additional inlays, designs, ect, are extra.

It cost nothing to put your name on the list. Just call him at 847-680-7498. Leave a message and he will cal you back asap. But when your name comes up and he calls you, you two will discuse what you want. Then he will give the price and you have to put 25% down.

Go to his website, its very informative... http://hercek.com

DM, I STILL accuse you of hoarding the Hercek market in the Atlanta area. Give up and come out with your hands up! We've got you surrounded . . . . :p lol

Sorry DM. I take it back. THIS guy is hoarding the Herceks! :D

Herceks

Come on guys it took a lot of work to put all of those together. I play with all of them hence the majority of Steel jointed ones. I had the fancy that was on Cornerstone but I didn't like the hit of that one for some reason the piloted ivory I currently have hits great. The flat faced Delrin one I have hits great. I have yet to get a flat faced ivory, so the quest continues. If anyone lives or visits Chicago and wants to give one a try, PM me and I we can work something out. I really suggest anyone who is not on his list get on it. I have had the chance to hit with several high end cues and his hit the best overall IMO. The Tascarella hits very good as well but I find the control of the Herceks better. I suggest the leather grip as well. Joel does a unbeleivable job with irish linen, but I feel that his cues feel better with the leather. The only reason I have not changed out the one that looks like the spain is that it has one of Spains old wraps on it. The cocobolo plain cue that is on 3cushion.com has Joels last Burton Spain brown spec wrap on it. Another reason to collect/ play with Herceks is that not only is he a great cuemaker but he is one of the nicest guys you will meet (something that is hard to find in some cuemakers).
