Popped a seam!

So I had the slate level and floated out the joints...then put the cloth on and then the rails. After tightening the rails down, I hit a few balls and noticed right off that there was a seam that popped. Dagnabbit!!!! It was perfect before I put the rails on!

I did have to put a substantial amount of shims on one side of the table as the floor was not very level. So I purchased longer slate screws so that I could still get the slate secured correctly. However...I am wondering if this is what caused a seam to pop?

Any suggestions?

I've seen some chinese tables, were the rail was warped, high in the center. They had weak frame liners that the slates screwed to. When the center rail bolt, on the side rail, was tightened the slate was pulled to the rail, instead of the rail pulled to the slate. Try removing the center rail bolt and see if the slate returns.

are you saying you leveled under the slates to compensate for the level?
The frame should have been leveled by shimming under the legs. Shimming under slates is for correcting the sag or crown of the frame,not the floor.
 
Super Glue might also be useful.... but I"m not by any stretch a mechanic.
