Update on the Des Moines pool scene

Just got up from my mini nap, the life of a Richardson...ahh how sweet it is. I am assuming you are talking about your brother and not you. I haven't played it forever so he might want to give me the 8 since he has been praticing his banks a lot. Now I get to catch up on two pages since I have been out.

Give you the 8? Um, Honolulu is an 8-ball game, dork. :)

Brad,

Thanks for giving me his personal line number. Your lucky I know your last name cuz he was concerned how I got that number. You should call dude and tell him to give me the hookup fair price, not the Fresh Prince in Bel-Aire price ok. Thanks sweetie pie

Thats how I roll:rotflmao:, yo! your welcome!

He just happened to drive by my house. He lives close. I told him to charge you double since you haven't touched your grass yet this year!!!

You know I know people too right. People with a very specialized skill set.

the big picture

a 1,000 posts is near, but this baby is destined to hit a 100 pages too!

The Colorado Cue Club

I don't know if you guys heard this or not, or read about this on the forum, but the Colorado Cue Club has closed their doors. The owner is a friend of mine from way back when I first started playing pool. He just stopped in here about a month ago and we played some pool and caught up on everything going on in our lives. Little did I know that he was about to close his doors. As one of colorado's biggest pool halls, it is kind of shocking to hear this news. The economy is killing a lot of pool halls all over the country. To keep the doors open he resorted back to driving truck to pay the bills, hoping he could keep the lights on. I really have the upmost respect for him, and what he tried to do in Denver. He started out owning a pool hall in Grand Forks, ND. When I first got addicted to the game, his place was where I really got hooked on playing tournaments. From what I hear, the pool community in Denver is shocked as well. He appeared to be doing fairly well, but apparently not. Sad day for pool in Denver! My best wishes go out to him, his family, and everyone that was associated with The Colorado Cue Club.

Just thought I would share a little about this. Let's hope that this economic state that we are in changes soon!!

That sucks. These are tough times right now. And even tougher going into the summer for pool halls.

I almost bought Smokeys about 7 or 8 years ago but after I looked at the financial numbers, I realized I would have to personally work the bar in order to meet my needs as far as income and even though I loved pool, I knew I didn't want that life. In some ways, I wish I would have bought the bar, but in others, I knew what a toll it would have taken on me.

That being said, props to you for sticking through it and keeping your head above water and having a positive attitude about it. And good luck to your friend.

Don't play pet when your drunk!!!

Just a side note, if you happened to had been drinking since 5:45pm and then about 12am you THINK you should go play Pet after he just took down the winners side in a tourney SOBER, THINK AGAIN!

Nice shootin Pet. Next time we both play sober, or both play drunk!!!!

Round 1 Me
Round 2 Pet
Round 3 ???????

poor

Too bad on the club in Denver. About four / five years ago, I played at Shakespears in Denver and REALLY liked the room. I went back to denver last year and heard it was gone and couldn't find it. I couldn't figure a room that made me feel so good about spending my money would disappear. I did hear the rent after the area became a 'renewel district' went through the roof. Probably the root cause.

Maybe there is too much good skiing in Denver?

Craw - Duke RULES!
