yowza! anyone see the latest hot pool chick?

Look, I think you're missing my point.

I'm sure she is a very nice girl who works really hard on her game. I'm sure if I had met her in person not knowing about this scandal, I probably would like her...And maybe she does play "decent"??? But -

1. Does decent amateur level player really belong in WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP tournament? Rubbing shoulders with elite top ranked players from each country?

2. What has she done to receive so much publicity?

3. Just why did she get the invite? Was there like a Internet lotto for any amateur player to just sign up and get an invite?

4. Why didn't the "REAL PROS" get any press release?

What the HELL!!! If it's open for the amateur, then WHY DIDN'T I GET AN INVITE?

S.

I don't know the answers to these questions. I can only quote from the AZ article "Delrosario won the Predator Pro Pool School Tournament and finished 3rd at the Poison Women's Orlando Open earning herself a Poison Cue and case as well as a spot into the World Championship." You will have to ask Poison Cues and the Womens world 10 ball championship how that worked. Should she have turned these things down?

Dave,

I think you should stop ... if you go on it just looks worse for her. We all know she got the invite because she runs with DP.. Read her blog... I'm sure you already have, but just a friendly reminder:thumbup:

So... for the people who don't know how to read between the lines...

She won the Predator Pro Pool School Tournament? Which are limited to like 8 students? When did this happen? Why wasn't this on 20-30 press release, pictures and email about the school after each one?

Oh and about finishing 3rd in Poison Open tournament gave her invite to the World Championship? I never saw that in the flier for the event or anywhere in Press Release. So what happened to 1st and 2nd?

OH, by the way, for women - it was handicapped! See the article.

For the record - If I got an invite and all my stars lined up - like being able to take time off from work and other arrangement taken care of - I would jump too. But I would had declined the press release unless I actually beat a champion on even grounds...

If I didn't have control over the press release, I would at least sent in more professional but "HOT & SEXY" photo.

Having said that, wish her good luck. I'm sure she can beat my "lame" game any day:)

If that's the impression given by that photo, it isn't who Zarah is. She's the first to admit that her pool game isn't of professional caliber, but she was already dedicated to it before she got any attention and will still be dedicated to it after the fickle eye of internet pool attention passes on.

She's about as grounded and deserving a person as you'll meet, and, personally, I hope she milks it for all it's worth.

I would also like to say a thing in Zarah's defense. She is about the nicest unassuming person you will ever meet. She is also very beautiful which shouldn't be a strike against her.

I've been impressed by her work ethic and tireless practice habits. I've practiced next to her on multiple occasions and many, many players could learn from her practice habits. I was shocked to click on this thread and see that it was her.

But everybody is free to promote themselves as they see fit. If you wouldn't have done it. Well, that just means you wouldn't have done it. Not that she shouldn't have.

Frankly, I don't see what the big deal is. Do any of you understand just what "image of women's billiard in the Philippines" she wants to try to change?

For all we know, it could probably be the image (and I'm just guessing here) that since pool in the Philippines is a predominantly male sport, any female who plays good pool must be a dyke (or is that butch? sorry, I'm not sure what the proper PC term is -- obviously, lesbian isn't the correct word since there are a lot of gorgeous lesbians. The word I'm looking for is for those women who are openly .... how should I put it? Is there a word for a female transvestite? Or does that apply both ways? Anyway, women who openly dress and act like men).

In which case, the picture was appropriate in that it tries to show a female pool player (signified by the pool cue) who is definitely feminine (signified by the softness all around her -- not that I'm saying that women are soft. Or that women are just meant for the bedroom). BTW, who said she was in bed, anyway? It's probably just a photographer's studio meant to look like a bedroom. In fact, it doesn't even look like she's in bed at all. She's wearing shoes, for crying out loud!!

And if what she's wearing looks like a nightie to you, then you should probably go out more! Are you even remotely aware of what girls are wearing these days??? I've seen worse (or is that better?) on women out to buy groceries...

I don't think that she's showing "some skin" at all-- I think what shows here is how malice is in the mind of the beholder.

It looks like a perfectly innocent picture to me; if it seems to you that the woman is calling out to you like a siren crying for sex, then you 1) are probably undersexed; 2) just stepped out of the 50s like in Blast From The Past, 3) just got out of prison, 4) are Amish, or 5) all of the above (except # 2, which is improbable. An Amish guy who just got out of prison will definitely be undersexed)

As for what has she done to deserve an invite to play in a tournament....I can only offer one advice: go start your own tournament and promotions company!

>sigh<:shrug:men

I certainly don't doubt that she's a nice girl, but when you let someone run a press release for you focusing squarely on how you look rather than how you play, you're going to get lots of comments like this. Shanelle gets the same sort of heat because she has yet to prove that she's little more than a pretty face and killer jubblies with a pool cue. By all reports, Shanelle is a really sweet girl, but taking a ride on the Korean Lizard does have its downsides.

If Zarah wants some street cred as a pool player, start playing in some non-CW promoted events. If she doesn't want to be viewed as a hot chick that likes to bang balls from time to time, she might want to take some control over how she is promoted. Just my opinion, but when you work with a pimp, expect to be turned out like a ho.

Your "point" seems to be that you're miffed that her looks played a part in her getting a break you didn't. I know what you mean; I'm miffed that Brad got Angelina.

sex sells, period! just ask jeanette lee...she has ridden that marketing wave to the fullest and she is probably the most popular name in women's pool because of it.

Renegade: The PC term you're looking for is "Butch". Not sure if that's the image that filipina shooters have. I don't remember seeing a filipina I'd call butch, they're too small >_<

I agree with you that the whole 'bed shot' thing is overblown. There's next to no exposed skin and the word that comes to mind first is "cute" rather than "sexy". Did anyone notice this? http://vi.sualize.us/view/af8c5add69133d9c7e2ef64823106676/

The item missing from your list should be: "6. If you've got an ax to grind and want to use this girl's publicity shot as an excuse to bash Charlie Williams for being a pig". Not that he doesn't deserve it, but damn... let's not trample over this girl just to get at him.

I find it a little old-fashioned and backwards that anyone wants to come with the argument "she's responsible for the content of her press releases and she should be embarrassed about the bed shot". Grow up FFS. Zarah can promote herself any way she wants (ranging from incredibly mild pics of her lying on a bed, slightly racier pics in tight leather pants a la j.lee, or going straight for the bikini a la j.baretta), she doesn't need anyone's permission and approval. She doesn't have to be ashamed of her looks or her ability or that photo or the content in that press release. She certainly doesn't have to turn down an invitation to play with pros just because a handful of people (who have probably never seen her hit a ball) thinks she can't hang.

How'd this thread steer from "let's judge sexist a-holes who only care about a player's looks" to "let's judge this girl for being eyeballed by those sexist a-holes"?

i always find this amusing.
we all know that based on numbers, pool is a predominantly male sport.
and since there are not as many women in the pool scene, whenever a female is spotted a majority of guys will start staring and jockin her like shes one of the hotest chicks theyve ever seen, even though shes kinda beat.
I observed this many times in Vegas at the BCA. Semi attractive cue raffle girl gets eye fucc'd by 8 out of 10 guys walking by.
Im not saying this is wrong, so dont get it twisted. Im probably guilty of it too.
I just find it funny and amusing how standards are lowered when the numbers are dwindled.
oh... and Im pretty sure the fact that a woman likes pool or better yet plays pool, does make her a lot more attractive in the eyes of most men on this forum.
take a Yetti -8, stick a southwest or searing in her hand and see what happens

ohhh, that is just how the world turns. I don't think there is anyone who can support this fact more than Danica Patrick. Don't get me wrong, she is a looker. But, the fact that she is like one of a handful of women race car drivers, just makes her that much "hotter".

Bullshiznitz!

To the true professionals of womens pool: MUCH RESPECT!

Thank you for working your butts off to attain a level of skill that is presentable to the public and is due the respect given. I wish you all the best.

To Charlie Williams' newest FB, Zarah Delrosario: Pool is a professional sport played by women who have worked their entire lives to attain the skills they have. They have earned their right to play in a world championship, on the other hand you absolutely have not! Your an admitted amatuer and your only playing in this event due to your attachments with Charlie Williams. Do the work, then the opportunities will be genuine!

To Charlie Williams: hmmmmmm, I just don't think there's anything I could put here without getting banned! Oh well, let your imagination run wild with what I might have written.

*These are my OPINIONS! If you disagree, so be it. If I get banned...farewell my fellow AZers, it's been great!*

Thanks for the link, CreeDo. Pretty good pics and composition. And the sentiment is touching. She's very creative, gifted and talented. And it seems more than capable to think and take care of herself. So all those would-be knights in shining armor who want to save her from being "exploited" -- you're barking up the wrong tree. I'd say she'd do well for herself, with or without pool....

I reviewed the list of players that will be competing in the tournament and all are reputable professionals or qualifiers who won their way in...then there is you. I have an idea! Why don't we just put an astrisk by your name and put "F'in' Charlie Williams" in brackets by it to explain why your there! At least with girls like you around Charlie won't need to be sneekin' around hotel rooms tryin' to get some! You wanna be a pool player Zarah? Do the work, then the opportunities will be genuine!

Holy cow! She's the first person to admit that she hasn't earned the right to play in a championship with the upper echelon. She seems to be as start struck and nervous as any amateur would be in this situation.

It was Charlie's idea/decision to afford her the luxury of playing in this event. Your beef is with CW and the continued questionable choices he makes, not with this young lady. She did what anyone that wants to make something of themselves in this game would've done, and that's take the opportunities that are handed to you.

Opinions differ...

We just have different viewpoints on the matter I suppose. Not a problem. Your right in thinking that I have problems with Charlie Williams and his questionable choices, but Zarah is just as much to blame for her own actions.

Your right, she did admit being an amateur...then she accepted this opportunity that was handed to her and in turn robs this World Championship of credability. A World Championship, IMO and hopefully most others, is a gathering of the absolute elite competitors on planet Earth to find out who the best of the best is for that year. It's not Charlie Williams' own personal show off session for his new squeeze or Zarah Delrosario's personal promotional event. The rest of the field is filled with 47 competitors who all earned their way to the event. Zarah was GIVEN hers without merit and is absolutley undeserving.

Here's what it comes down to...had anyone ever even heard of Zarah Delrosario before in relation to the women's professional pool scene before this occurance? If your answer is "no"...then WTF is she doin' playin' in the World Championships? She takes a class from Charlie and the boys in Chicago during February of this year, http://www.generationpool.com/generation-pool-news.php?action=detail&newsID=75 and now she's off to the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS! Your right, that's just how the world turns man....I don't know why ANYONE could possibly have a problem with it.

Good luck Zarah! Knock them hard working professional's socks off sweetheart!

Actually, Ms Loraine didn't win a qualifier, either. But then she's also associated with CW and Dragon Promotions.

Lol!

Ohhhhh, you mean the other model/pool player wanna be? It's amazing how much integrity Mr. Williams and Dragon Promotions hold for the world of professional women's pool. Most impressive indeed. :grin-square:

You'll get no disagreement from me in the fact that Zarah didn't earn her spot to play, but I'm not laying the blame for the "Championship* Farce" at Zarah's feet.

Tina Meraglio has been invited to to play in DP events before and she's a regional player, she's not a WPBA contender. Same with Grace Nakamura.

People on here only know about Shanelle & Zarah because DP decided to do "press releases" about them. There are others who (IMO) have no business playing in a true Championship.

To date, there are 4 names that I'm familiar with that I don't think should be there (my apologies if Tina or Grace won a qualifier & I'm wrong). How many more names of women from other countries that I/we don't know that also didn't earn their spot on the player roster? There's got to be more than 4 women from the US that are on the player roster that didn't earn a spot. Its not very fair to Zarah to make her the "fall guy".

Yeah, it's so one sided in pool. Every guy wants good looking girls to take up pool, but what about MEN players?

I haven't seen many men pool players really take care of themselves. A instant turn off is when a chain smoking, out of shape guy bends over to shoot and you get a eye full of "hairy crack"!

Maybe, if there were more attractive men hanging in the pool halls - hot chicks will follow!

S.

So, are you recommending pool rooms stock "Nad's For Men Hair Removal Strips"? :D

I am pretty sure Angel Paglia didn't win a qualifier to play in the World Championship either. I know she used to play on the WPBA but hasn't lately and even when she did play in some events last year she didn't do well. She has been playing more lately but still nothing I would qualify as meriting an invite to the Tourney. Turns out she didn't play because of dehydration or something like that but she was still invited and imo undeservedly. Hey she is pretty though.
