Interesting how she says she wants to "Change the image of women's billiard in the Philippines" and she is posed laying down on a bed in her nighties...Just what image is she portraying? I get it, if you're young and pretty, you don't have to play descent pool... just show some skin, right?

i always find this amusing.
we all know that based on numbers, pool is a predominantly male sport.
and since there are not as many women in the pool scene, whenever a female is spotted a majority of guys will start staring and jockin her like shes one of the hotest chicks theyve ever seen, even though shes kinda beat.
I observed this many times in Vegas at the BCA. Semi attractive cue raffle girl gets eye fucc'd by 8 out of 10 guys walking by.
Im not saying this is wrong, so dont get it twisted. Im probably guilty of it too.
I just find it funny and amusing how standards are lowered when the numbers are dwindled.
oh... and Im pretty sure the fact that a woman likes pool or better yet plays pool, does make her a lot more attractive in the eyes of most men on this forum.
take a Yetti -8, stick a southwest or searing in her hand and see what happens
 
by the way, do I think this new pool chick is hot? No not really.

Standards are definitely lowered when the numbers are dwindled. Kinda reminds me of Navy boot camp.

If that's the impression given by that photo, it isn't who Zarah is. She's the first to admit that her pool game isn't of professional caliber, but she was already dedicated to it before she got any attention and will still be dedicated to it after the fickle eye of internet pool attention passes on.

She's about as grounded and deserving a person as you'll meet, and, personally, I hope she milks it for all it's worth.

and what's wrong with that? You know if we had hot gorgeous women piling in the pool halls, billiards would be amazingly popular. Competition would be through the roof and there would probably be a pro league for pool much like the NBA or NFL.

I for one would love to see hot women in a pool hall. Sex sells and pool is a cool sport, now it needs to be known as a sexy sport too.

It'd be wonderful to get models on magazine covers with pool sticks in their hands. That's really all it takes sadly for the masses. I have never seen a really attractive chick shooting pool worth a sh*t in real life.

It needs an image make-over and i'd brether it be about sex then what most people label it as.

It might be wishful thinking, but I think pool may soon be something bigger then we could have ever hoped for.

Pool just hasn't broken into mainstream in America yet! Just a simple fact. And I don't mind mixing good looking girls into the mix... I think NBA and NFL already do? In the side lines? called Cheerleaders?

It's that fact of mixing good looking females with no skills or talents into the competition itself is what I have problem with. I think it's a disgrace and a slap in the face for the Women Professional players who has dedicated their livelihood - sacrificing everything to achieve their passion to be standing side by side with these "PROPS" just to make the game interesting. AND to be overshadowed by their looks until they are knocked out of the tournament...

No, nothing against selling sex. Just against lack of respect for the real professional players.

Not to defend CW but this pic is used in her facebook page too... Maybe DP has the photo credit but then again maybe it's her own publicity pic and she provided it. I figure charlie was probably not personally in her bedroom snapping the pic.

In any case she seems to be taking this pic with her consent. Personally I find it tamer than http://www.billiardsforum.info/images/jennifer-barretta-fhm-2.gif even though that one's in an actual pool hall vs. a bedroom.

I just think we should accept that this is the way of the world for hot females in ANY sport. I expect this will remain the same for the next thousand years. It's silly people will talk about her as if she's a victim. There are a sexy pics of maria sharpova and natalie gulbis too... it doesn't have to mean they are being exploited or it's all about sexism. It is entirely possible they like the idea that a million fans think they're hot. Or these women are just exploiting the fact that they can get extra money and publicity (maybe a sponsor) for spending a few hours in a bikini.

There is a clear double standard though, where is the Ralf 2009 wall calendar I was promised? :D :o

Unfortunately, the marketing for pool has always sucked. Otherwise, it would have been broken into the mainstream ages ago and stayed there.
I know a number of football and basketball players who don't really love the game, they love what comes along with it. The cheerleaders primarily.

Pools atmosphere quite honestly sucks. The only people I ever see playing or older people who aren't the future of pool, or ghetto thugs. Young attractive people have no reason to get involved with that.

One guy has already said it. When a just DECENT looking chick walks in, 8 out of 10 guys are staring her down. That needs to change or pool will remain a sausage fest at 90% of pool halls.

OMG! That's so hilarious!!! I was going to say that photo in that press release looked like **"Myspace - Ho" pic. HAHA!:rotflmao: Facebook, Myspace- just about the same.

Sexy photo isn't really the problem. Sex sells!! We all know that and I have no problem with her using it so. I'm pretty sure she is a nice girl. I wish she sent a pix that was more tasteful for a press release, LOL. I think she's attractive enough that she could had posted any other picture and still gotten googly response from men. I wouldn't had any issue if she was in a mini's or daisy dukes...

Just that she's in a bed... just a little tacky to use for a press release.

I posted my opinion in the other thread but it seems to have been deleted. I didn't see anything past my post so I don't know if it got ugly, was deemed not relevant, or someone simply got sick of DP posting nonsense.

IMO, Facebook is exactly the kind of place a pic like that should be posted on, not a "press release" for the billiard media. As far as billiard media, the photo is in bad taste and only worsened by the unkempt bed and drab surroundings (no headboard, white walls).

As for the FHM shoot that Jennifer did, that wasn't for a press release or any other billiard media outlet. That was for FHM magazine and anyone familiar with that magazine can attest that the bathing suit is appropriate. Its basically a soft porn magazine where women are in bathing suits or their underwear. Yes, Jennifer was in a bathing suit but not only is that a prerequisite to appear in that magazine but at least they had her in a game room with a pool table.

I've known players to sleep under a pool table but I've yet to meet anyone that can play pool on a bed.

Just my .02 on another DP faux paus.
 
I'm getting a kick out of all the "there's no good looking women in pool" posts. I'm sure that there are a few young ladies out there that could/would say that there aren't very many attractive young men in the pool rooms either. ;)

Yeah, it's so one sided in pool. Every guy wants good looking girls to take up pool, but what about MEN players?

I haven't seen many men pool players really take care of themselves. A instant turn off is when a chain smoking, out of shape guy bends over to shoot and you get a eye full of "hairy crack"!

Maybe, if there were more attractive men hanging in the pool halls - hot chicks will follow!
