The case you carry/cue you use

I have never paid much attention to what someone is shooting with before I gamble with them. I don't really see what it matters. To me it matters how they are shooting not what they are carrying or shooting with.

This makes the most sense of any answer i've read on what a player shoots with or how much he spent on a cue case. What the heck does it matter if a guy is using a S/P or a 3K cue with a fancy Justis case. He can either play or he can't and the balls don't know how fancy the cue was that just sent them in the pocket.........

Because it does.

Until you see someone play and see them play their best game , all you have to go by is what you can read from everything or anything else.

Doesn't mean any of these factors 'mean' anything specific but it's all of those thing that you put together to take an 'educated guess' at thier ability and how you want to match up.

If you just line up totally blind with some one , how do you figure out the match up ?

You might as well just throw your money in the air and hope it blows back in your pocket. :) Personally I like to have a little more of an influence than that. :D

But......you forgot the newest and greatest way to get action, walk in with a cue case plastered with league patches. Pretend that you are there for league night and are shocked that you went to the wrong bar.

I always thought a great hustling case would be one that had some APA patches that said "APA 3", "APA 4" and so one and you stopped them on the case at "APA 5" and had two "Break and Run" patches and an "I (heart) APA" patch and "Travis Trotter" done in those Glitter letter stickers you get at the dollar store. Top all that off with an "I (heart) Cuetec" And a sticker pic of Allison Fisher's head with a ring of tiny hearts around it and you will have a line out the door wanting to play you.

That is f**cking hilarious .I can totally visualize that case!!lol

LOL, true that, would love to see the new highline apa patch case :D

Truth be told, the old case I brought did have a few patches from back in the day and we actually talked about sewing them on to see if it helped :)

Guys, my intention was not to bag on anyone for expensive, inexpensive or lack of equipment. Just simply get some input on how carrying different equipment may or may not ellicit action in certain venues and how it can effect what type of action you get. This isn't a personal knock on character, but more to see if anyone has seen this interesting behavior. The two of us discussed this at length, with a third person adding to the conversation, and all three of us felt like that, at least with the masses, there is often some impact on action based on initial perception via equipment.

I know this is not the perception of AZ - it's obvious that everyone here is far too smart and would never judge a book by it's cover

I think you have a new line of cases all setup! The JB Hustler, er I mean the JB Smuckster!
