U.S. rooms with snooker tables (as of May 2009)

I've been putting together a list of U.S. pool halls, rec centers, private clubs, senior centers, inns, and other sites that have at least one snooker table. This coming month (June 2009) I'll be posting the complete list online at a new website. Of course I'll share the list with Alan Morris and the other good folks at United States Snooker Association (http://www.snookerusa.com/) and with our friends across the pond at The Snooker Forum (http://www.thesnookerforum.com/board/index.php).

At the website anyone will be able to download the complete list for the entire U.S. or for just one state. The files will be available in a variety of formats. As time permits I'll add other features and content.

As a preview, here's what I've found so far:

182 rooms in the U.S. with at least one snooker table.

Table count nationwide for 5 x 10, 6 x 12, and other sizes:
6' : 1
9' : 3
10': 115
12': 103

The room count includes only those I've confirmed by phone or email. Employees at these sites sometimes don't know the size of the table(s), so for about 10% of the table count I've provided my best guess based on their answers to several questions.

I've posted partially complete lists for different states* here at AzB, but now I need to spend the next few weeks getting the website ready. Thanks to everyone who helped with information and suggestions.

There are some in the Memphis, TN area

There is a 5x10 at High Pockets on Old Summer Rd in Memphis, TN.

There is a 9 footer at The Rec in Southaven, MS. I am guessing on that size.

There is also one at a place called Brady's in Olive Branch, MS.

Yup, I have those two on the list. You're also right about the Southaven table being a 9-footer; it's one of the few 9-footers on the list.

There is also one at a place called Brady's in Olive Branch, MS.

Aha. I didn't have that one. Thanks very much, Mike.

Here's the listing I found for them:

Brady's Pool Room
9641 Lamar
Olive Branch, MS 38654
(662) 895-2430

I'll give them a call this week to follow up.

I've called Burns Recreation several times but haven't gotten a response. Have you visited recently?

I even visited Google Maps and checked the Street View. It appears that Burns Rec is or was sandwiched between South Arkansas TV & Satellite and a hotel, but the building that should be Burns Rec in the photo looks unoccupied. I don't recall if the photo included a copyright watermark to indicate when it was taken. I'm going to call the TV place if I still can't get a response from Burns Rec.

I'll re-check those cities to see if I come up with anything. Currently I have six confirmed sites in Arkansas: Russellville, Rogers, Warren, Bella Vista, Fayetteville, and Fort Smith.

If I remember correctly the poolhall in Little Rock was " Mid-Town Billiards" but I haven't been there in many years.

There use to be a 5x10 snooker table at "Central Bowling Lanes" in Hot Springs,Ar., been about 5 yrs. since I was there, but its still a bowling alley.

Burns Rec. was run by an older gentleman, named Tommy Burns, but he may have given it up , haven't been over there in a few yrs., but the location you were talking of was the place.

It's still there, but when I called they said they didn't have any snooker tables.

When I asked the guy at Central Bowling Lanes & Family in Hot Springs if they had snooker tables he said they "got rid of those years ago." Too bad.

Brady's Pool Room in Olive Branch, MS still has a table. Based on what I was told I'm going to list as a 6 x 12.

Google Maps lists three pool rooms in Texarkana: Atlas Billiards, Players Billiards, and Coleman's Pool. Any idea which one would have had the snooker table?

I asked around and Texarkana no longer has any poolrooms with snooker tables.

Contact Bob Reed, he is the president of the "Arkansas Pool Players Association" I'm sure he can help you more than I with where any poolrooms than now have snooker tables, just shoot him an email at:

Wow, thanks! I didn't have either of those. I only had three confirmed listings for Indiana:

Diamond Jim's in Crown Point (one 5 x 10)
Scottish Rite... (Masonic lodge) in Indianapolis (one 6 x 12)
Bedford Pool Hall in Bedford (one 5 x 10)

I'm hoping to put the full list online in about a week.

Does this list of yours include any rooms in Arizona?

I've only found one so far in Arizona:

Games Room
The Cellar
Student Union Memorial Center (SUMC)
The University of Arizona
1303 E. University Blvd.
Tucson AZ (520) 621-1450

I was told it's a 9-footer, so perhaps it's a conversion.

Do you know of any others? I would've expected to find at least one in Tempe or Flagstaff but couldn't find any references online.

Thanks, I'll check whether I've contacted Excecutive Billiards. The name sounds somewhat familiar. They're still listed on Google Maps, though the Google Maps listings aren't always up to date.

I have a separate list of pool halls that have closed or sold their snooker table(s). I'll be putting that list online as well.

There's a room in the Pomona valley, I believe, (Calif.) that has several( at least 4) 12 ft. English snooker tables. I played there once, but since I had to follow a guy there, I can't for the life of me remember where exactly it was.

Just read DKhan's post--the one i'm thinking of must be Embassy Billiards in San Gabriel. Top notch place.

Do you and DKhan live close enough to one another to start a local meetup or tournament?

Until I get all the listings plugged into Google Maps I won't know what is or isn't in Pomona Valley (or Orange County, for that matter). California Billiard Club in Mountain View has three 6 x 12's; after Embassy Billiards that's the highest number of tables I've found in any single pool hall in California.

I updated the list of "unknowns" in my response to DKhan's post to indicate which pool halls are closed and which have no snooker tables.

I pretty much don't play any pool these days. If I did, Embassy would be way too far for me to travel to.

Las Vegas Cue Club in Vegas has a 6 x 12. Saw some use during the ACS Can-Am Challenge event. Normally everyone plays Golf on it.

Cue - T's in Vegas also has a 6 x 12. Haven't looked at it up close recently. From the conditions of the other tables, my guess is it isn't very good.
