The Tiger Tour, which has been running successfully since 1999, is going through a bit of a slump due to the dreaded SOTE (State Of The Economy).

~ BUT ~

There are now so many weekly tournaments I literally have choices as to which ones I can participate in...and this includes 8, 9, 10-ball and 14.1!

So when I read about other members who are losing access to pool rooms, or tournaments, or have severely limited choices as to where and when they can play, I feel fortunate.

Just wanted to acknowledge that I am a lucky SOB...:)
 
By the way...

...if some of you Marylanders were wondering where these tournaments are, here is a list of the ones I know about:

Mon - weekly 9B double-elim, KB Billiards, Elkridge, $20 entry, super = yes
Tue - weekly 9B double-elim, Big Daddy's, Pasadena, $20 entry, super = no
Wed - 9B tournament, Orange Ball, Rockville, details unknown
Wed - 8/9 money league, race to 5 - 8b, race to 7 - 9b, payouts at end of session, usually 12 -16 weeks, Big Daddy's, Pasadena
Thu - weekly 9B double-elim, KB Billiards, Elkridge, $20 entry, super = yes
Thu - 14.1 league, handicapped, you play to your rating, payouts at end of session, usually 12 -16 weeks, Big Daddy's, Pasadena.
Fri - weekly 1P double-elim, staggered entry fees due to player abilities, $30 - $10, Big Daddy's, Pasadena
Fri - weekly 9b double-elim, Shooters, details unknown
Sat - weekly 10b double-elim, Big Daddy's, Pasadena, $20 entry, super = yes
Sun - weekly APA-style 8b double-elim, Big Daddy's, Pasadena, $13 entry, super = no
Sun = weekly 9b double-elim, Top Hat, $20 entry, super = no
Sun = weekly 8-b APA-rules double-elim, Golden Triangle?, Ellicott City

There are probably even more than these but these are where I would go.

Few more things.

At Big Daddy's they add money if they get 16 or more players, and on the
1st. Sat of every month, if they get 16 or more players they add $200 to the 10b tourney.

At KB Billiards that have a speed pool challenge where you try to run 15 balls while they time you, and they pay the winner with the fastest time at the end of the month (or session, not sure).

You have some very fine tournaments there.

Our pool room owner has a handicapped 9 ball tournament on Tuesday night. $100 first place, $50 second place and $20 third place. NO ENTRY FEE.

Often times you will be playing in one of his tournaments or maybe justwatching a big sports game on tv and he will bring in Boiled Shrimp or boiled crabs, or 12 or 13 pizzas or have one of the local players who is a chef cook up some of his Italian specialities and the price for the food-zilch. He often goes to SAm's Wholesale club and picks up other goodies to keep his customers prisoner. :D

I am a little jealous of the numbers of tournaments that you have there but we also have a little one pocket handicapped tournament on Fridays also NO ENTRY FEE. ;) It is getting so now that I don't have a chance of winning it because my handicap has gone through the rafters . :frown:

Saturdays at All Star Billiards in Frederick,MD is $20 entry plus a Calcutta. It is by far the hardest tourney on the east coast. It is a handicapped tourney with 2 brackets and double elimination. I have been lucky enough to win this thing a few times and have walked out with about $700 each time. If you don't believe me about it being the hardest tourney you can talk to Ryan McCreesh or Brandon Shuff who are frequent tourney entries.
 
Boiled crabs, learn to steam them!!! the green room in dundalk, thurs $20, 10 ball, usually 15 to 20 shooters, plenty of tables.

Well I do believe you but you should know that Ryan and Brandon, and Shaun Wilkie, Matt Krah, Glen Burnie-Max, Manny Chau have all played in the Tue and Sat tourneys at Big Daddy's, with all except Wilkie, Shuff and Krah considered regular entrants, and those tourneys are not handicapped so I think ours is tougher...:)

One day I will get the chance to put the taste test on the steamed crabs. I doubt that there are more than two people in the whole state who steam crabs. lol
