Flying to Vegas with cue

Traveling

took a 2x4 empty case on a plane once but never a cue. One time I watched out the window as the bags were going up the ramp into the plane and I could see my case come out and get about half way up and fell off. They picked it Last time i went i put my cue in a soft case and shoved it in my suitcase. At the time i did not use a break cue.

I have not had an issue with a combo of these two suggestions.

Put the cues in the suitcase (I put them in a pillow case and surrounded with my clothes) and I carry on the case in my Porper travel bag.
Doing it today as a matter of fact.....anyone in Terre Haute want to play some pool this weekend?

I have heard all the horror stories, but I have always come out fine.

I usually give my cues to someone driving there from our league...If you know of someone driving , ask them if they will take your cues for you... Before I started doing that I used to put them in a Porper bag made for shipping cues and sent them with the luggage...I never had a problem....
But to be safe. just in case, I started sending them with friends driving...

When my dad flew to vegas to visit me last year he placed his cue in a soft pack case, wrapped the soft pack in bubble wrap then put inside a thick walled mailing tube. He capped it off and taped the shit out of it and put his name and address on it and checked that tube. He carried that around vegas for the week instead.

I've been extremely lucky flying back and forth to different places while just checking my case with cues in it. Knock on wood. Glad i'm driving to vegas next week and not flying...

Not playing in the apa or ncs but will be around vegas for a month and would like to meet some az guys. Give me a shout.

Last flight I took a month ago my cue was in my duffel bag in a soft case. It rained hard and my flight was delayed 6 hrs. When I finally got there my whole bag and all the contents including my cue were soaked. They must have just left my luggage on the cart outside uncovered. Some of my clothes were ruined and my wrap was trashed. I had to have a rewrap done. I was lucky the cue was not warped. Other than this last time this method has always worked fine.

How about a hardcase like the Samsonite F'lite 31, a cue case would go in diagonally. Has a replaceable rubber o-ring like seal, so it will be air and watertight. Samsonite has a 10 year warranty of these hard cases. I have the predecessor model, the Oyster and they're known for their legendary durability.

flying with cues

I have a large duffel bag with a hard bottom shell that my hard case fits perfectly in the bottom of. I then pack my clothes on top and have yet to have a problem.The only thing I have to watch for is my weight.

Why? When you check in to the airline's check-in / ticketing counter, do they put YOU on the baggage scale?
