How would you play this?

Either

3,5,2,4,1,8

Or

2,4,1,3,5,8

If it were me I would shoot the three down first, then play the 5 in the side, two ball in the corner draw to an angle on the four, draw doen under the one then roll forward or to the back left and float over for the eight. in either corner pocket.

I like the idea of tieing up another one of his balls if im playing bad. (like I did this weekend.):frown:

I just got back from a trip and saw this thread today for the first time.

I see what you did and it's fine if you got a way with it. What I would have done different is to leave the four ball on the table and go from the two to the one. If I get good on the one then most of the work is done. If I fail to position the one I may have to go to a safe. If the four is not there and I get hooked on the three and five then I may have to move the one and open up the ten.

I like leaving the the four for a safety or in case I get in trouble with the three or the five. The four is in a nice open area.

I don't like burning up my balls until everything is pocket-able. Besides if you had failed to get on the four correctly from the two then you might have lost the opportunity to get on the one.

It looks like the table is playable for the run. From your position it looks like the angle for shape to the one from the two ball is there already. I wouldn't consider a safe from here, getting on the one looks like a high percentage for a win. Turning the table over to a good player eliminates your chance for an early victory and could possibly be your last shot.

To be perfectly honest, I agree with you. The reason I went for the one when I did is only because I was in dead stroke and had the cb on a string. I knew I was taking a chance, but also knew that at that time I could do it and get good on it. And, even if I didn't get on the one good, I was still going to get out.

I knew that taking the bottom balls meant easy positioning for the rest of the rack after the one, so I went the way I did. (Not to mention that I also achieved what I wanted out if it, that rack broke my opponents spirit.)

I understand what you're saying. When we're in the zone we can afford to be a bit more chancy and don't consider it to be risky like at other times.

I'd play the 2 and try to get shape on the 1 not break it up.

Thats what I would do. Big area for position, 8 is still blocked. Then 4, 3, 5 and 8. Not that difficult of a runout. Position on the 1 is a relative easy shot-IMHO the rest are ducks.

Pocket as many balls as you can, my routine, try and run it, because if you don't, your opponent will.

Sorry to go off topic, but I can't get my PC to download the plugin in order view cuetable. Anyone know what I can do to fix this?
