... and he uses a different bridge length for different shots to adjust for changes in throw (like Colin Colenso)? ... or maybe he is just stressing the important point that squirt and swerve are much more important in aim compensation than throw (except with throw shots).

I'd guess the ladder but then I'm not Fred. For me swerve and squirt need much more compensation. However throw has its importance with or without english. One just needs to know what conditions tips the scale.
