I bought one from Seyberts supposedly before McDermott took over the patent. Does that mean that you made it? I'm quite satisfied with it-just wondered.

If it says Sledgehammer II it is McDermott built. If it says Sledgehammer in a sledgehammer outline it is Taiwan. The cues I make today work a lot better than the rest because of 3 major differences. 1. the shaft taper goes through your fingers with less resistance. 2. the shaft has a new product on it called shaft freeze that not only keeps it from turning blue but keeps it strait and makes the shaft stiffer. 3. the ferrule/tip material I use is not available any where else in the US, it is exclusive to my cues only because of my new patent. This material is not only stronger but it holds chalk better than anything ever produced which means that the tip stays on the cue ball better for the really close jumps and draws. My new cue will out preform any jump break cue built in the world.

Is your new ferrule material banned for use on break cues in the BCA as well?

Yes and I will dare anyone to prove that my new material could ever damage a ball. The BCA did no studies as a matter of fact the ball manufacturer did no test on my material either. They are all full of it. This whole thing is political. I showed them my test results on all the break material and it was not even considered in their decision. If I could afford to take them to court I would win easily.

I've watched many, many professional matches and even with the pros that shatter the rack and use phenolic ferrule/tip combos such as yours, I've never once seen the cue ball become damaged.

I've also never personally seen it.

I've also never heard of it. But let's assume that maybe (maybe??) it can happen even in extremely rare cases with junky, low quality cue balls. It still wouldn't be enough of a reason to warrant a ban.

But my question is, if it's political, what are the politics? What is to gain from banning it, and who gains?

Who has got the new products?
