Hey folks,
I am 99.9% sure I will be going to Reston, VA from Oct 4th to Oct. 9th.
During the day I will be in a certification class I will be taken but would love to meet some AZ'ers and to know a couple of nice pool hall's there.
I will not be taking a cue with me most likely, hopefully I might be able to borrow Joe Lolley's (AZ Bamacues) Scruggs
Hit me with some suggestions. There is a Portuguese restaurant in Manassas that I want to go for dinner, but everything else seems to be a wide open schedule after 4 or 5pm :)

Andrew Manning isn't far from there, I think. The place to play in that area is First Break in Sterling.

If you make it closer in towards DC, shoot me a message.

Tony, I'm nearby and Andrew Manning is too. Myron (Alpine9430) is in Sterling. First Break is good and Breakers in Herndon is a nice room, although no action like First Break. Drop me a line if you want to play, you can borrow one of my cues.

I'm in the Alexandria area.. hit me up on Tuesday or Thursday, as I have league on Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday. I'm not familiar with the pool places in the Herndon area, but I'm willing to travel for some good games.

Reston for classes.. is it a CISSP bootcamp? Only asking because I'm a CISSP, and a few folks I know took bootcamps up there from Global Knowledge.

Thursday night tournament at First Break is not to be missed, but it does go pretty late. $20 entry, 8:00 PM start, 9-ball, rack-your-own, double elim, race to 5 on winners side and 3 on losers side, finals is a single race to 7, there's a drawing for a "break pot" where the winner gets to break and run as many as possible on table 1 (triple-shimmed) for a certain amount per ball (usually in the neighborhood of $100 a ball). I've been going every week.

There's a Portuguese restaurant in Manassas? (googling...) So there is! I may have to try that myself at some point; I'm a sucker for a good paella, no matter how it's spelled.

uhm.. isn't paella a Spanish dish?

Paella is Spanish, whereas paelha is Portuguese. Hence the spelling comment in my previous post.

Anyway, I actually thought he was referring to a different Portuguese restaurant (there are 2 in Manassas!), where paelha is in fact a house specialty.

Alright, so I will be arriving in the afternoon of October 4th in Dulles Airport and will be staying at Comfort Inn & Suites in Dulles, VA as well. I have a car, so as long it is a reasonable distance (max 1 hour) I can meet any fellow AZ'er for a good chat, a good beer and a few games. I don't gamble so...
My phone number is 209-482-7768.
Looking forward to meet some of you folks out there.

I went to the Portugese restaurant Monday. It was good, but I was told I could've ordered better, guy at the bar said they make a salted cod that is top-notch.

It would be about an hour's drive from Reston there.

There's a good tourney on thursday night near Reston. Thoughts?

Works for me.
Let's do this... Next time you go with me, ok? Nothing like going with a guy that knows the food. It is like going to a sushi bar... I always have to take a Japanese friend with me
Tourney sounds good. Hopefully I might be able to borrow a cue from somebody. Not sure if I am going take any cues yet.

Hey guys,
Will be arriving in Dulles around 5pm. I did bring my cues. My cell is 209-482-7768. You can text me if you prefer.

I think that First Break is where I am going to hang out. Only 3.5 miles from the hotel.
