looking for brass weight bolts

I'm looking to put a brass weight bolt in my cue, 3" or 4", flat-head 3/8-16 weight bolt . I have a cue that has a stainless steel 3" bolt. I was told it fits 6", but when I screw a 5" bolt, 1" sticks out. But I like the weight of the 5" bolt. So, the cuemaker told me to find a brass weight bolt. Any ideas?

thanks
Pat

Not so much an idea as it is a question.
Why does the CM want you to look for a 'brass' wght. bolt?

If I read it right, the OP wants a 4" bolt that weighs as much as a 5" steel bolt. Brass is heavier than steel, but only about 8% heavier (I looked it up). So he'd need about 4.6" of brass to equal 5" of steel.

Other possible solutions would be to drill and tap deeper for the same 3/8-16 bolts, or drill and tap for a larger diameter bolt.

Here is what you're looking for. 3/8-16 Brass flathead slotted machine screw. No minimum purchase required.

(All you had to do was use Google).

The OP likes the cue's weight when he puts in a 5" bolt (steel, I'm guessing). But when he does that, 1" of the bolt sticks out. So unless he changes the hole, he can use no longer than a 4" bolt. The CM suggested brass, presumably because he thought that brass was heavy enough to solve the OP's problem. But as I said in post #3, brass is only slightly heavier than steel and won't give the OP what he wants (without modifying the hole).

Yes I know. I read your comments. I was simply giving the OP what he was asking for.

thanks for the suggestions. I emailed the cuemaker about the brass bolts, he told me to send the cue back to him and he will drill and tap the hole deeper to make the weight got from 8.3 to 9.1 oz.
