Making and Selling Counterfeit Cues

It's not out of the realm of possibility. You can't imagine the amount of counterfeit stuff here.

I have seen counterfeit Predator cues and cases, counterfeit Tim Scruggs, counterfeit Moori tips and Master chalk, counterfeit Instroke cases, counterfeit Joss cues and even "Joss" pool table cloth. I have seen fake Falcon cues, and it wouldn't surprise me at all to find out that there are fake Lucasi cues running around.

I've even seen a fake Honda CRV. Seriously

Not to get off topic here but I think I run into those counterfeit Master chalk in a local pool hall, they do not have the flag and the chalk does not hold to the tip.....

Anyway, great effort!! and the AZB community should definitely give a hand, at least by by setting a data network of the high end cues out there and combine everybody knowledge and offer help with authenticating cues to anyone who asks.
We should also lurk ebay and alert when a fake comes up like it has been done a few times in the past.

counterfit

I'm glad people like John have the resources to pursue these scum bags, but very few are ever prosacuted. It usually costs a lot of money, like John said and all they make them do is to quit producing it and slap their hands. But is it any worse to counterfit than to collect or sell cues that you know to be stolen. That happens all the time also. No one seems to care even when they get cought with them. They think because they paid money for it, that they have a right to keep it. Just my thoughts. Butterflycues
Ps. Is there a way to check spelling on these posts.

To be fair I wasn't pursuing scumbags. The scumbags are out of my reach. My dispute was with former partners so it kind of doesn't apply as a pure "counterfeiting" dispute.

BUT - it does point out that my case like in most cases there will be little to no damages awarded AND if any are awarded then they are most often not collectible.

Intellectual property protection is a privilege of the wealthy in the USA and most industrialized nations. As is also IP bullying.

The sad fact is that in the billiard industry very few companies have the resources or knowledge to monitor and go after all the people engaged in IP infringement.

IP Bullying is when large companies try to scare little companies into abandoning their legitimate activities by throwing "cease and desist" letters at them knowing full well that most small companies will cave in and quit.

I don't know what Tikitavi has planned but in the absence of state run prosecutions that have resources one of the best things that can work to stop this activity is to shine light on it.

There should be some sort of website that is a hall of shame of sorts. Where those that steal the work of others and commit fraud should be enshrined. And give those that are accused the platform to defend themselves and their actions. Let the court of public opinion decide when both sides are presented.

Obviously such an approach has the possibility of abuse, may not be entirely legal and also has the possibility of damaging someone's reputation through a mistake.

But, the legal remedy is often impossible to achieve. So something needs to done.

P.S. re. Spelling, I use FireFox with the Google toolbar which comes with a spell check function that works as you type. If you misspell something then it underlines the word and you can right click on the word and get the suggestions. This works for just about anything I type anywhere on the net.
