Wrap lower than rest of butt

This is the condition of my cue after a cue repairer's job on my Lambros.( The cue I fell in love with, and spent much money on) Can any thing be done to correct this nightmare?

A total of 4 wraps were installed on the cue. The glue did not dry right in a spot on the ffirst on. On the 2nd one the wrap separated. For the 3rd wrap I picked and elephant ear. This set higher than the forearm and butt cap, plus had evidently a little dry cracking in an area.

I sent it back and he put on a different elephant ear, which feels much different than the 1st one, and sits down below the forearm and butt cap now.

My cue, with the 1st elephant ear wrap increased .01 oz. to 19.1. When the 2nd wrap was installed, it now weighs 18.6. Any ideas of what happened here? Comments and advice welcomed! Thanks much.

one of two things

1)the first elephant ear was too thick, and the second too thin

2)the first was too thick so the cue maker reduced the diameter of the handle to get the new wrap to fit...and took off too much

hopefully its just the first one, but if its the second one that kind of sucks...but could be fixed with a layer of epoxy built up and then turned back round to the desired diameter.

If what you described is accurate, Sounds like you picked the wrong repairman. It seems he did some modification to the cue after the 3rd wrap and maybe using cheap materials. After 2 tries, you should have went elsewhere. You should, at this point, IMO, go to Mike Lambros and pay him to straighten it out, and put it back to original specs. This will maintain the value better than having a local 'repair' it again. For a person to hand back a cue to the customer 3 times with apparent issues, he doesn't seem to be the guy for the job.
If I spent a considerable amount of money on a cue that I absolutely loved, I wouldn't trust anybody but the original make to make any alterations on it.

Sounds like he had to take the cue down a bit to get the second Elephant ear wrap flush. Either way, you only have to
mess with the butt screw to even out the weight. You are not going to adjust the weight by doing more wrapping.

OK now go back to the first wrap and that should do it. Also... you need to find someone reputable to do your work.

Believe it not this repairman is reputable and very well known. That is the reason I went to him. I wish I had just taken my cue back with no wrap, but you know what they say about wishing.

As much as you probably don't want to be without your cue or spend anymore money on it I would box it up and send it to Kenny koo to be fixed and rewraped. He does a perfect job, Turnaround is excellent and pricing is very fair.

I had him do several cues for me and all were excellent.

Can't remember which, Gus or George used to use newspaper under the wrap.

i agree with all the responses, but also you should know that him sanding the wrap area cant bring down the weight atleast not a negligable amount
so then its either the weight screw or your scale. also send you cue to original maker for peace of mind if anything else. goodluck
 
I suggest that perhaps you may want have it analyzed by a qualified professional, Have them take pictures and document in writing what they find. Something a "Non-cue person" (like a judge for instance), would easily understand. Then have the handle and wrap replacement done properly.

Take the original guy the receipt an have him cover the additional costs.
If he wont pay for it, (and he wont) most likely.

Then sue him in small claims court for the the costs of anything above the first wrap job. since that is all you really wanted or needed before he damaged it. You obviously lost cash out of pocket and suffered some devaluation of your property from his actions. The law generally allows for compensation of repair work if it is shown to be " below industry standards" and causes a loss.
