Gold Crown IV Questions

I recently bought a GC IV. I will have it set up by a professional shortly after closing on my new house. The table is in excellent condition and I don't want to replace the rail rubber to accomodate a subrail extension. However, I would like to tighten the pockets a little (4.75" corners). I have the following questions about the GC IV, specifically. I know these issues have been addressed, generally, before.

1. Are the pocket angles and pocket shelf different on a GC IV and GC III?
2. Is there a reason the rails cannot be moved in slightly to tighten the pockets on a GC IV?
3. I've seen 1/4 inch neoprene shims recommended to tighten pockets. How does neoprene differ from the standard Brunswick facing material? Is neoprene the best facing material?
4. Can a 1/4 inch neoprene facing/shim be tapered to change the pocket angle a little?

I would really appreciate your help in answering these questions. Thanks, Chuck

Where are you, who's doing it, and how come they don't know about neoprene.... red lights just lit up. Sorry.
Diamond uses neoprene with a durometer of 60. You can order it direct I believe, unless Dartman or someone on here has some on their site for sale.
Sorry fellas, been on the road alot lately and haven't been able to check on updated webpages:wink:
You can also check and see if there are any rubber companies in your area that have some in the correct specs, and aren't trying to make you buy a bunch of it.
I used to get mine from Capital Rubber in Sacramento, now I'm trying out places in Dallas/Ft.Worth.

Thanks for the reply, Cuephoric. I haven't identified a table mechanic yet. I'm in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, DC, and I would like to have someone pick-up the table this weekend and deliver it and set it up early next week. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Chuck

I'd recommend you check the sticky in this section - Mechanics Directory
Several guys in your area that could do the job.
