Getting your mind in the right place to play Pool is not always easy. Sometimes when you are playing the most, it is harder to get 'your mind right' than when you have laid off for awhile and then play.

As far as the player is concerned, one thing to keep in mind is not to over estimate your 'average' game when matching up.

The aspect of the mental game I want to discuss mostly though, is how important is it for you to know your opponents game? I have always advocated that if you know how your opponent thinks, in and about, his Pool game, then you can beat him. The Art of War, by Sun Tzu, would seem to back me up on this.

For those that do not know, Sun Tzu lived about 2,500 years ago, and is considered one of the foremost, if not the foremost, strategists in the world.

So, just how important is it to know your Opponent? Before you play?

discuss.
