Parica versus Reyes?

I remember Parica saying in a taped interview that whenever he'd come back after a big win he liked to party a lot and drink. At that point, he said, Efren would "magically appear" (lol) and see that Jose was drunk then go up and challenge him to play. One of the reasons, he explained why Efren may have had the better of it in the beginning.

Personally, I think him to be one of the all-time great money players.

Bottom line for me - Jose was the best money player at 9-Ball and Ten Ball. He was the most feared money player on the planet for over 15 years. Efren won many more high profile events and dominated the toughest pool game of them all, One Pocket.

I loved watching Jose play for the cash. He was fearless and amazing! Jose's game was a lot like Earl the way he controlled the cue ball. No one ever had more heart than this little guy. I also loved watching Efren play One Pocket. The best cue ball control ever, with pin point run outs. He was the first guy I ever saw consistently run out with all the balls down table. Once he got behind the balls, it was all over.

In the Philippines, they know all about the history of both players. Jose was the best player of the two when they were very young, but by the time Efren got into his 20's he was the best player. Most filipinos say Efren played better before coming to the states. He is considered one of the three best all time filipino players. I met the old guy who everyone says was the best ever. I'll try to remember his name. Sorry I should remember, but I don't right now. All the younger players show him lots of respect.

that's interesting that you mention the 'old guy' whom everyone considers the best ever. Is it true that he was never able to get a passport to make the trip to the US? I made a thread about it a while ago and I don't believe that his name was ever revealed.

Parica mentioned that he played 10 ball about 20 years ago, so I just wondered how the rules back then compares with the one we have today. Anyone has any idea on this?

I heard that Efren was in the final of US Open final for 4 consecutive years from 1994 to 1997. If this is true, this is unbelievable and I just wonder if there is anyone has ever did the same thing as him in the US Open history.

20 years ago you could win on the break and there was no call shot. It was played with Texas Express rules just like 9-Ball.
