Joss Cues

It is a sad day when a person spends $450 on a cue and plays with it for 4 weeks and it warps. Sent the cue back to Joss and all they would do is try and sell me a new shaft for $80 (they claim that is 50% off). I know time are tough for cue makers but, really? Joss told me that they can not control the weather so they don't warranty the cues against warping. What else goes wrong with a cue if you don't miss treat it. As the customer I can't control the weather either. So now it is my fault that Joss Cues don't use aged wood, and make a product that sucks.

IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A CUE i WOULD NOT BUY A JOSS. SPEND YOUR MONEY WITH A COMPANY THAT WILL STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT.[/B]

Now i know this might sound funny but if you'd bought the cue used you wouldn't have this issue. buying a cue that's a few years old and is "battle tested" will let you know that it's probably not going to warp.

it's always been my opinion that joss cues (even the production ones) are quality cues. if you're patient i'm sure you can find a used one for less than you spent on here and it's probably not going to warp!

my hat's off to you for speaking your mind though. all the time on here i hear great comment after great comment and nobody's willing to say anything negative

I like Joss cues, but that said the quality control is crap.

Late 4 out of 4 butts from Joss has easy notable flaws. Joss said its common.
This also goes for Meucci.

One of the the irish line wrap loosened. Was clued about a inch in the start and in the end.

wait a minute was it only the shaft that warped???? that's not such a big deal!

To close this discussion I want to say that I am upset with the situation but not upset with Dan Janes. Dan is a great cue maker and has been for a long time. I understand that things like his will happen as I am new to this business. I mean no disrespect to Dan or Joss cues.
I am sorry if that is how I came across. Joss cues are great playing cues and would suggest to anyone that is looking for a cue to pick up and hit a Joss. You would not be sorry.

Please accept this as a formal apology to the Janes family and Joss Cues.

no one guarantees against warping? Really? Had my ob1 for 3 years ..it warped and they're replacing it no questions asked. It's not about whether joss makes a quality product. They do..but with any product sometimes crap happens. obviously they're aren't as willing to satisfy there customers as ob is. Joss and schon are my favorite cue's. I don't think anyone makes a more consistent hitting cue with as many inlays for a better price. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another joss if I saw one that caught my eye.

I sympathize with the hurt feelings of any cue buyer who finds his prized cue has warped. This is a terribly uncomfortable feeling. When the maker did not take steps to prevent this, and after learning of it, does not replace the cue, it can feel heartbreaking. Pride turns to resentment.

Joss cues is a great company. Dan and Steve Janes and their families have done a great deal for pool. Many of us started out 30+ years ago with a Joss...the list of great experiences is VERY long for this company. Dan is a Hall of Fame builder and the Joss Tour is some of the best tournament action in the northeast.

If you didn't abuse the cue and it warped badly, that is regrettable. They don't warranty warpage. They offered you a replacement shaft at half price. Sounds like they met their burden as a vender. There is a lot of competition and Joss prices have not gone up much since I bought my last cue from the factory in 1986.

If you are looking for a Joss with the quality of old...one man shop and owner's attention applied to every cue's quality, you'll need to buy custom or find an old used cue. Those days are long gone for todays production cue companies.
