I just finished reading the newest Ivory post. I know that walrus tusks are also refered to as Ivory, and was wondering if it is a practical replacement for elephant ivory?? My family has some Inuit carvings from walrus ivory that were aquired during my fathers posting to Alaska in the 50's. They have traveled around the world with us.....and other than a mellowing of color....ie some slight browning/yellowing......they show no signs of deterioration.....ie....cracking or splitting.
