of or remember a cuemaker named Bill Blevins or Bevins? I purchased what appears to be a conversion sneaky many years ago and was told this was who made it. Additionally, stamped in the butt were the letters BBQ. The letters appear to be stamped individually with a lettering stamp as they are not perfectly aligned. The cue has a satin finish and it does not appear to be a modern urethane or uv cured although I could be way off on this. The ferrule is yellow (as in Mason's micarta) but has a distinct, irregular grain in it quite visible to the naked eye.

I seem to have some residual memory of a Les Bevins, or maybe Les Blevins. Are you sure it's not one of Brent's (BHQ) early cues?

There is a Les Blevins from Ashland Ky. I know that He made cues back in the 90's. I'm not sure when he started or stopped. Does the cue have a signature or just the letters stamped in the butt?
Every cue of his that I have seen has a brass 3/8x10 southwest style pin. If it was one of his earlier cues though, there's no telling what type of pin he might of tried.
 
Yes I know Bill Blevins. Les Blevins is a different cuemaker. I have not talked to Bill in a year or so, but I suspect he is still making cues. I think he is in Virginia.

Bill is a southern man and I doubt he moved to Cali anytime recently. I have sold him supplies for years.
