Number one they(the owner(s)of the website)elected to make this site free...what you are saying is that in retrospect should have charged for membership....so we wouldn't all be freeloaders, as you say. When something is offered and given for free and one accepts that which is free, then he is not a freeloader
I never said anything about any retrospect of charging for membership. Don't know how you arrived at that from my message. Where was there any document about you "accepting" their offer of a free forum? They have a great forum, they've never had any mandatory charge involved with it, it's got very popular, they're probably tired of pumping their own money into it, they're looking into some ways to make some money to offset their bills... pretty simple stuff.

Actually I have the right to say just about anything I please...it is up to the website owners to respond or not respond.
Sure, you have the right to say anything you please, anywhere in America. Anyone can do that, the real test, is can you put the situation in perspective and make comments based upon the specific situation.
My brain tells me, I"m on a free site, I just saw a splash ad, they're probably needing to find ways to financially support the site. My heart rate didn't increase, my firewalls, virus detectors, spyware/adware/malware detectors, none of them started wailing at me with red lights flashing. I didn't feel violated, didn't feel shamed or dirty. I saw a brief picture flash before my eyes, couldn't even tell what it was in the time it was there, wasn't even really paying attention. Just like that, I was at AZB. All in all, a pretty successful and uneventful journey from the time I clicked on the Button in my Favorites bar to the time I arrived at the forums.
Other peoples brains, tell them.... "WTF??" "How dare they?" "They got no right" "This suck bad" "I feel invaded" "AZB sucks now" "If I wanted popups, I'd ask for them" "Oh, great, now they've jumped the shark" "I understand being a member on AZ is free and because of that we should tolerate intrusive actions on the part of AZ....I think not! " "It's all Obama's fault" "Must go quickly to NPR and write about the conspiracy and how the left wing, liberal knock kneed Dems are all behind it... our rights are being violated" "Oh, crap, now my panties are all in a bunch, and it took me 45 mins to pry myself into my jeans"

So if I understand what you are saying..."we can give helpful input" but we can't disagree??
You understand incorrectly. There's a big difference between giving "helpful" input and just giving input. Helpful input or constructive criticism is blind to whether your agreeing or disagreeing.

Oh, you're one of those guys.
Yes, I'm one of "those" guys that am willing to give constructive criticism, if asked by the site mods/admin/owners. I certainly don't feel the right to go off on them for a splash ad, since I'm visiting their site for free and I have no idea their ratio of debt vs income of running the site. I"m not the kind that thinks the world has just came to end, because I saw a popup. I don't feel they violated me or my PC, I feel they have the right to do anything they want. I'm just crazy like that, I guess

I see that their going to pull the ad. It appears quite a few LOYAL AZ members were unhappy with the type of ad that was used and they are going to do something different. I guess when the "freeloaders spoke" someone listened.
We all want AZ to be successful...but without the pop ups.
Very helpful advice to them..
PS... Jerry asked for input because that is the type of guy he is... not afraid to read the answers he may get. But I'll bet that they took more into consideration, the responses that were well thought out, helpful and constructive. I'd rather not speculate on the reaction from Jerry on the hysterics of some of the posts:wink:
