Probably best to just order a foot from Atlas. If you need a small piece now, you will probably need another in the future...
Thats just it pescadoman I don't know if I like it or not, a real good friend handed me his $6500 Richard Black and said put me a new buttcap on it. I said it came with ivory and he said he had had it replaced 3 times by Richard and it keeps cracking and I don't want ivory this time, so I wanted to buy a piece to visualize how it would look. This is a monster cue by Richard that deserves ivory but maybe elforyn is the best bet in the long run.--Leonard
You should still buy a foot. That way if you like it, you can use that piece and have some for the future. If you don't, you can sell it here and take roughly the same loss.
I think I paid 82.00 for it, plus whatever shipping. It's roughly 7.00 an inch. 1.5 inches won't do much and cost you around 12.00 shipped. Just make SURE they send you a good piece. Me and my friend both received pieces that were not good end to end and I sent mine back. He uses them basically at the ends of the wraps, so it isn't that big a deal for him, but he wasn't pleased either.
If you really really want to go the 1.5 route, I have some that I can sell. Let me know. I'd just have to figure my cost. Not looking to make money off of you.

You should use Delrin a material Black would use if asked to replace the cap with something other then Ivory. I would not bastardize the cue with an odd material Black does not use.
Valid point and worthy of noting for sure. I also have to wonder how THREE butt caps cracked without a bit of abuse......
Anyway, my offer is good until I use up what I have. I didn't buy alot and have 8 or so inches left.
That MP Ivory from Atlas is ok too. It melts but looks just like ivory when u get it on. It's cheaper too. I made some rings out of it, and they look great. Might as well order some, it's only $12 / ft.
