Any more input on these?

Also, if you have switched from another tip, please tell us what the main thing was that made you switch.

Thanks again!

Quick question for all you guys who have been playing or installing these tips. I just recently got a couple of these for my friends and myself and somebody had mentioned to us that after installing them we shouldn't bring the tip down at all (after shaping) because they "supposedly" get more action this way. Can you guys help verify and give some insight on this ? I am pretty sure I've read a couple people taking them down a little bit after installing but can't find the exact post to verify.

Thanks in advance...

I recently had Pete put a Black soft on my new Petree. This is a steel joint cue that had a Triangle when delivered. Cue played great but hit was too sharp. To me the Black soft hits like a really good LePro. Effortless spin and nice, firm feedback.

I have some of the medium Kamui Black tips and I found it to be like a hard tip. I switched to the Kamui Black soft and it feels like a medium hard tip to me. Maybe I should switch again to the Kamui Black super soft to finally get what i'm looking for. I've played with Moori Slow tips for years and after reading good reports on the Kamui Black tips I decided to try them. I've invested a good bit of money in these tips and I still haven't found one that suits me. After reading this thread maybe the Super Soft is the tip I should have tried to start with. These tips seem to be harder than their designation states.

I have tried all of them and you are 100% correct. I only use hard tips and am now using a soft. Of course as hard as I hit the ball, all my tips are eventually hard! lol

I always cut mine down to about 3/16ths inch amd eventually less.
I can get some major juice on the rock no problem. I cant stand a tall tip.

Poolstar,
Kamui provides the 10 layer tip because there are so many different style of players out there. I personally do not like a tall tip either. BUT, it is nice to start off tall and "fine-tune" the tip one layer at a time till you find your sweet spot.
-Enjoy!

Wow, things are pretty close in the race.

I wonder how many people using the Hard, actually use it for a break/jump tip?

For those of you that have shot with BOTH a Soft Black and the Super Soft Black, is there a big difference between these two tips???

I just played about an hour with the Kamui Black Soft tips, and I think they are GREAT!

I may have to try the Super Soft's out in the near future!!!

Kamui Black Soft feels soft, not medium. I'm coming off an Everest Hard Predator production tip, which was rock-hard and clangy. Kamui Soft feels mushy in comparison. I get much more action off the Kamui Soft - so much so that I tend to lose shape. But this ain't the tip's fault, it's lack of experience on the owner's part. When the tip & I get intimate. we'll rock, I'm sure. One thing I can say for sure is that miscues are down significantly. I realize miscues come from a sucky stroke more than a bad tip, but my sucky stroke miscues a lot less with the Black Soft than it ever did with the Everest. One dude's experience.

Hardness Scale...

Grabbed THIS from another thread and wanted to post it here as well.

If you click on a tip it will bring up a scale of properties.

Got a Kamui Black Soft on my new Predator cue. Too early yet to say what I think of it, but it spins the CB well. And holds chalk extremely well.

Was a bit disapointed with the black med at first. Belt sanded about a third off and now very pleased. Been playing with a Tiger Red Line on Olivia sneaky that was by far the best combo of my fifty years playing. This Kamui on an older stick is darn shure in the race.

I Love the Black "Super Soft" played about 60 Points worth of a 14.1 game without having to Re-Chalk. The tip holds its shape real well as well, i have not had to touch it since it has been installed about a month ago.

The Black is probably one of the best playing tips i have ever used.

i can honestly say....Once you go black, there is no turning back !!!!

It seems like that will the tips I've used, too, and they weren't the super soft. I had a medium on one shaft and would run a drill with a whole rack of balls using low, outside english. I didn't even think about chalking the tip!

while in Davenport for the ISPA tourney, I had Pat Diveney install and Kamui Black (S) on one of my shafts..took off 4 layers right off the bat gave it a good shaping put some chalk on it and pressed it in with my tapper once, then again. I gotta say its def the best tip I have ever played with, love the feel and playability. Often times I will chalk only once during each rack just after I break and have gone nearly an entire hour of drills without having to chalk... though I only did that as a test as it really throws off my preshot routine and rhythm.
