I have a friend that showed me his Palmer custom cue today. The butt cap is busted up pretty bad. He is looking to have it totally refinished & was wanting to know what kind of money he was looking at to do the job.
If any cue maker could PM me a price on the cost of a total refinish I could pass it onto him. By the way he`s NOT looking to SELL the cue wants its refinished, it was his dads cue. Thanks for any info or help I can get. I will provide pics of the cue if needed, but will need to get it from him first. Thanks again Jeff

Added some pics for everyone to see the damaged butt cap.
Hope this helps. P.S. The cue is not in that bad of shape, except for the butt cap. LOL
Thanks for looking

Jeff. This is a pb or pm line Palmer made by adam japan Richard helmstetters company. FYI no one will be beating his door down. Hahha. I would call Scot at proficient. You're gonna spend 80$ with one shaft +20$ per additional shaft. 40$ linen wrap and maybe 25$ for butt cap. Turn around time will be fast and total job should be under 200$. He's deff gonna loose the name so maybe go with delrin The cues value won't be hurt bad. It's only about a $600 cue.

Palmer Cue

Hey Jeff

Chris Byrne has done some Palmer repair work recently.
Paul Rubino can do it and he may even have the parts.
It's a shame about that butt cap.

Peace

Just for the record it is an Adam cue made for Palmer. If you are in the Denver area I would have Ernie Martinez or Chris Byrne do it. it will cost more in shipping than repairs. Its just a simple friggin butt-cap!

Thanks for all the help guys, cuesblues, jayman & dave sutton. I know he told me his dad paid like $500 for the cue when it was new. Its a keep sake cue for my friend since it was his dads cue & now his dad has passed on. I`ll let him deside on who gets the job, but I`ll be throwing him some more names that I recently heard about. Thanks again for all the help. AZB is just a great site to be on.

I think you can save the name Palmer on the butt if you tenon most of the cap (like a Hoppe ring)and then I would put a black butt cap to finish it off...JMO.....Jeff

That's not a bad idea. If it was mine I'd hate to loose the logo, and it would look pretty cool i bet.

Save the BUTT!

I am not a cuemaker but am curious to know if the butt cap could be cut in half thus saving the Palmer name and then married to a new butt section???
Just curious ABSOLUTELY not stirring up the pot folks!!

Thats a pretty good idea sir. I`m still waiting to hear back from my friend on who or what he wants done with the cue itself, but I think you may have the answer to saving the logo. REP coming your way on a very cool idea. Now if I can get a cue maker to do just this it would be even cooler saving the logo. Thanks again for all the help, its greatly appreciated.

The only prob with the hoope idea is say you save the name and add a hoppe ring. To keep the cue the same legnth you need to add 1.25 inches of black which would looks bad IMO. That cap is 1.5 total legnth. If he doesn't mind the cue being 3/4 short I could add a 1/2" ring. My typical hoppe rings are .200 ivory and .500 black
