a 27 and a 41 from yesterday, check it out!

It's just a hobby, but a fun one.

Yesterday seemed to be a good day! All the things I have been practicing are really starting to come together. About every 3 or 4 innings now I am putting up a run in the 20's. I noticed I was still struggling with patterns and speed control so I have been doing the brainwash drill for the last few days as a warm up. I can now usually complete the drill on the first try. I really got on a roll and caught a 41 ball run on video, my highest recorded run. I really believe that me breaking 50 is in my near future. The new video by John with the commentary as he is playing has helped, thanks Dennis! I figured if I talk myself through my runs the way John did it would help me.

Well let me know what you guys think. I will look at all the new threads when I get to work in a few hours.

Watched the 41. Nice run and congratulations. Would not let me watch the 27 though. Asked that I sign in first (not registered).

Again, nice run. With 50 right around the corner, 60 can't be that far off.

Thanks MN Kid, I am just sick that I didnt hit the last shot hard enough to get to the pocket. I would have ran 50 for sure if it wasn't for that shot. I learned my lesson there.

I started to watch a little of the 41. Talking to yourself is a good thing. It helps you figure out what you want to do.

You need to go into your 27 ball run. Go into settings and click on privacy and make it viewable by everyone. I accidentally did this once too and nobody can see it whether they are logged in or not.

re your 27 run

I was surprised with your shot selection here
options.jpg
I think a player of your caliber shouldn't be shy of shooting this shot I illustrated with arrows (option A). You enter the cluster and have two balls (4 and 7) drifting towards the corner so that you are not hooked.
Even if this ball is not there I would rather shoot the 4 (I think it is the 4 right below letter B), I see it as less severe cut than the shot to the side you played. And you break the cluster with both routes while after the shot you picked the whitey goes around the globe with a risk of scratching. Well, you might have thought you could break the cluster with this one you selected.
It seemed to me you never considered them, having evaluated your chances only with balls adjacent to the cue ball.

I like your runs guys, keep posting them!

27

I only had a chance to watch your 27 ball run. It was a very good run.
Like I said before. You have improved on your pace, which right now is a good one. Your stance & shot making is right on. Also your thinking when it comes to patterns is right on.
Here's the problem. You & I both have great tables but the climate control for the room is off. Your table is playing tough. On that last rack.
You hit the rack twice, once on the break, which was a good one and then another time. Nothing moved. My table does the same thing at times.
When the balls do not want to come apart. You have to work three times harder to run a rack. Out of all the video's that Bill has put up. I never seen one of his racks that did not open up properly. Don't know if Bill has a cleaning machine but I do know that they work wonders. I am planning to buy one as soon as I can. I have been hand polishing. It helps a whole lot but does not last long. You need to try that for now.
That last cluster you shot. It was the correct shot to take and I like how you stated where the balls were going to roll. Especially the 2 ball, which would of been a break ball. It did not happen b/c your table is playing so tough. If the balls were moving properly, that 2 ball would of moved right into that place where you wanted it too and you would of had a shot to continue..
I will watch the other video soon.

Vahmurka, you are exactly right and I guess I never looked at the two balls near the cluster. I think the mind plays tricks on you when you view clusters from a certain vantage point. I think I just assumed those two shots were part of the cluster. Looking at it now, I shoot the option A shot all the time. I am glad you pointed this out.

Mike, about a week ago I started cleaning the balls everyday and cleaning my table more regularly. I even cover the table every time now when I am done playing, keeps dust off of the table. I made one of those homemade ball polishers and it worked great. I started using the aramith ball cleaner and that worked for awhile. I think it started to cake up in the ball cleaner because it started putting this foggy glaze over the balls. I have since washed the pads in the ball cleaner and now I am just going to soak the balls in hot soapy water for 10-15 minutes. Rinse them and then throw them in ball cleaner to dry and buff them. Aramith ball cleaner sucks.

My table is in a garage so all I have for climate control is a fan to cool it and a space heater to warm it.
