Hi,

If you put a dowel pin in the chuck and indicate it with a jeweled type precision indicator what does it read?

Thanks,

Rick G

OK, I stand corrected!!!

Two more cents

First, let me say that I have no experience with this seller. He may make a great machine and I wish him the best of luck.

The part of his marketing that bothers me a little is the statement "Cue lathes with metal Lathe Precision" and then listing all the specs. I would imagine that an uninformed reader might assume that this is something new and that this vendor is solely responsible for the "machine lathe" precision. However, the specifications listed appear to be taken directly from Taig's marketing literature. I would think that anyone using Taig components to produce a "cue lathe" has this same precision.

Not trying to bash....just an observation.

Hi,

I agree. I asked him about the precision run out spec. of .0005 and I think he is just quoting Taig's spec. sheet. He would be better off saying it has a 1 0r .002 run out if thats what it indicates because that is more than good for cue repair.

He has put together a nice little set up and he should do well and I wish him well with his business. I just remember all the flack Lee took about the .0005 chuck run out flamers and again I think Lee also was just quoting the Taig stuff.

This suggests that the spindle wall thickness it 0.0381" ( calculated using (0.6692 - 0.593)/2 ), is that correct ?

Dave
I believe the spindle wall thickness is 2mm or 0.0785", the ID on the bearing is 0.75" not 0.6692. sorry for the confusion, the 0.6692 is for the jewlers headstock with 3/8" Bore.

The Taig Mirco Lathe is a metal Lathe and yes the spec listed above is from taig website. I dont see where is the problem, I am using taig parts to biuld my cue lathe with the exception of customizing some of the parts to convert it to a cue lathe, I never tried to pass this as a one of a kind precition lathe, just stating the facts. The truth remains that my cue lathes and all taig based cue lathes have the best precision in its class. whether its lees or hightower, they all have the same presition. the only difference is the styling and ofcourse the PRICE. I am just trying to provide a reasonably priced and unique one of a kind Portable Cue Repair Lathes and an entry level bench top Cue Repair Lathes. I dont usualy reply to all the posts cause I am too busy biulding and shipping my cue lathes. I will try in the future to answer all the question that might come up, also I have my cell listed on all the adds, if anyone really want some answers they can always call or email me.
Regards
