Hey so my birthday was yesterday. I know, i know. Go me. My girlfriend bought me my first cue. I have not received it yet but she bought me a VIKING G-14. Any advice on tips or accessories to help keep this thing in mint condition and keep the play of it at 100 percent?

Yeah she said it came with a free accessory so she got a case. She said it was not a hardcase but did not know what type of case it was. She said it was most likely just a regular nylon case. Thank you for the joint protector information though!

A triangle or Milk Dud is all I play with,They are inexpensive and have plenty of bite ,Good Luck Petey

Ah thanks. It comes with a Le Pro Medium. I guess I will just go to my local pool shop and ask them what they think regarding if I should stick with the original tip for awhile or switch.

Stick with the original...whenever there is a tip thread here, there are dozens of different suggestions. Joint protectors good, but really not necessary. Just keep the cue clean, and try to avoid dinging the shaft...

Happy birthday!

Oh...and have fun!

Yeah but since it is my first cue I wanted to ask but I realize everyone on here is a lot more experienced with cue maintenance and what not. I will definitely stick with the original and go from there. Joint protectors not necessary but sound like a plus!

A lot of cues come with Lepro tips, but I have never had any luck with them,A triangle should cost about $12 put on if you decide to change it,I have never had a tip that plays any better,Although Pooldawg on here makes a great milk dud that plays really sporty and inexpensive. If triangles and duds were $50 I would have to pay the price.Good Luck With your new cue

Invest in a hard case, keep your cue away from extreme temps, and joint protectors are a good investment. They cost around $12-$15 and will save you from a damaged pin - which can cost upward of $100 to fix.

Thank you Petey you are extremely helpful and Marksman as well. I will definitely invest in a better case and one that holds more than one cue. I plan on increasing my inventory quite often in the near future.

SMG (Sub Machine Gun???),

If you are anything like me you're gonna be chasing them joint protectors around the poolhall/barroom floor about every other time you use them. I still use them religiously on all my cues, but DAMN are they a pain in the arse sometimes!!!

Happy birthday my friend, and good shooting to you!!!

Haha yeah there's a couple inside acronyms for it but that is definitely one of them. I sure hope I'm not chasing them around. I'm going to try my best to keep the cue and accessories as nice as possible.

Hi,
Time to fill the case!

go easy with the shaft cleaner. Maybe once every month or two. Other ones just wipe it down with a cloth.

i recently get my viking cue too it shoots great but am loooking to add a predator shaft to it for some low deflection and please change that le pro tip it will cause yu to loose lots of game .it shoots hollow and miscue alot and make a loud noise when yu try to make a draw shot .spend some extra money like me and get a layerd tip.although am disapointed in moori tips witch i have baught for my viking ,, and yea keep them joint protectors intact good luck bro take care:)

Will most definitely take everyone's opinion and advice into account. I just can't wait to get this thing though lol. I will see how I shoot with it stock and then make the necessary adjustments.

This is terrible advice IMO. There is nothing wrong with a lepro tip or non-layered tips in general. It all comes down to prefrence. There's no reason to replace anything on your first cue until you learn what you like and dislike
about it. It's like buying a brand new car and replacing the tires. Or for the shaft replacing the motor.

Yeah definitely but I will shoot with it and see what I like/dislike.
