99 out of 100? i'd bet he'd do it 100 our of 100 and i'd give you odds on the money.
playing better players makes you better, even with a spot.
I'm not a big gambler, and I'm certainly not a theif...but...
I really enjoy beating the daylight out of the guy who always wants to gamble...
You know, the mouth...lets gamble, lets gamble, lets gamble...
and then he finally says ok, he'll play for nothing...and then I break it off in him.
Then he wants to whine and cry that - well if it was for money...blah blah blah.
if you're that sure you're right bet something and find out.
i've been beat by people for free before. sometimes they outplay me and sometimes i don't really focus or try. every now and again i'll take a dive. i don't care about losing if i'm not losing anything

I know poolplayer fairly well and I know he mixes it up with all kinds of players. Some players he'll gamble with that he's got no chance at beating even. But he'll play and pay for the action, the education, and the experience.
I'm not much for gambling either but I don't mind cheap sets. For me, it brings out the focus in myself and my opponent. It can help offset the costs put into the game. i.e. table time, traveling costs, pool gear, etc... and I never bet more than I'm willing to lose. But that's just me.
I don't know, man. He was here a few months back doing challenge matches and he was way off that night. Probably worn out really. I didn't have the 200 bucks it cost to do a challenge match but from watching him that night I think I could have taken him......or at least had a helluva chance to take a stab at it. He was really out of stroke. It was actually kind of depressing seeing Efren Reyes out of stroke.....but at the same time it made him more human. hehe!!
MULLY
Nahhh...
If I have to listen to that much whining from losing nothing...you could only imagine...if he lost a dollar or twenty.
I believe in... ...Letting the table do the talking...It's the only truth...
I really, Really, REALLY....... HATE.... to lose my money to someone in pool
and...
I get a really, Really bad taste in my mouth when I take someone else's.
There are those times when that certain person walks in that makes me want to take their money, but it's usually just my ego yelling at me
and to calm him down I refer to the above.

am i the only one that feels people should bet something, play someone, or go the f*ck home! i'm tired of walking in and seeing people that play drinking water so they can avoid buying a soda and sitting on the side lines doing nothing
You may not be the only one, but congrats for giving pool the image it dsserves.
"Breaking it off in him" and playing for giggles and "pride" do not belong in the same sentence. I never, and I mean never play full speed unless there's at least something in it. I don't play safe, fire at everything, laugh, drink like there won't be any more tomorrow, etc. etc. I have, however, played a guy and gotten beat for more than a week for "funsies." On the given night, he asked me to play for something, obviously thinking he was gonna repeat the rest of the week. I don't have to tell you the rest.
Trophies and "I beat him" s are something you can keep. I'd venture to say that only less than 5% of top players don't or wouldn't gamble. So, beat them all, my man. I love to ask guys talking about how they tortured somebody, "What were you guys teeing it up for?" When I hear "nothing", I put no stock AT ALL in that win. THere 's NO reason to play your heart out for nothing. Too stressful for no payoff. Kind of like getting your dreamgirl naked and then watching her walk out for someone who is the Badboy or Risktaker.
All those practice and playing hours need to pay off, unless you truly aren't competitive and playing just for fun. If you speak of "breaking it off in him" YOU ARE COMPETITIVE, but won't gamble for other reasons. Money? Stakes too high? Fear of getting it broke off for real? Don't like to get beat in public? Whatever it is, when I hear that someone won't gamble EVER, I look at them as a non real player. Unless.... they are a tourney player (which is a form of gambling).
hay man i'm just a guy that plays pool. i am not a role model or representative by any means.
i've heard all sorts of uncool things that pros have done. i heard somethign about a known pro trying to come into female's rooms at night. but me wanting to play some is so shameful right?
what about the IPT..... the iou tour? me liking cheap action looks way worse than that
Exactly!!!!!!!!!! i'd let ray charles beat me all day for nothing.
another reason for not going all out playing for nothing is because someone who might bet something might be watching.
