New to the forum. I have been looking for a 5x10 or 6x12 snooker table in the northeast on and off for the last few year. I am start thinking about getting one from Toronto, Canada. There is a riley 6x12 table available at $1500 now and I am trying to figure how to get it to the State. I am about 6 hours drive from Toronto. What is the best way to get the table transport from Canada to USA? I am clueless how to do it and hopefully I can get some direction from the forum. Thanks in advance for any help.

Pack the slates on a pallet, brace & crate in an upright position (standing on edge), not flat. wrap everything else in bubble wrap and corrigated cardboard and have a trucking company like Canadian Freightways transport the slates, the rest could go in a pickup or van . You will need a fork lift at either end anyway so you could rent a cube van and do it all yourself. I believe there are companies that specialize in crating and you could pay them to do that part.
Two strong fellows can lift the slates, I have done it :)

I've sent you a PM. I've heard rumors of tables in New England not currently listed on findsnooker.com, but I've had difficulty tracking those tables down.

If you can get a 6 x 12 Riley, then I'd say go for it. That may be the only one available at that price for a while.

Read the post by Philthepockets in which he describes setting up a table at his home. If drsnooker has recovered from his trip to the Championships maybe he could chime in. Or mnorwood, who has set up a 10' table. Or others.

I've started to collect information about Canadian pool halls with snooker tables, but haven't had a chance to post the info yet.

Thanks for the replies.

My biggest headache is transportation. What do you think about this?

1. Rent a truck and drive up from upstate NY to Toronto - Uhaul is $19.95 + $0.59/mile =~$400 (about 300 mile one way)
2. Have a local company in Toronto to disassemble and help load the table to truck ~$500
3. Drive back to upstate NY
4. Hired couples of strong movers to unload the table ~$100
5. Have a professional to assemble the table ~$500

Do you think it would work? Or there is a better route to take? Thanks.

My two cents... hire a professional billiard company to take it down, pack it, move it, and set it up again for you. It may cost a little more but it will be worth every penny if they do it right.
