I was ready to order 1/4 inch facings to reduce my pockets...then I took my rails apart only to find that my current facings are already 5/16"? Can I add to or replace facings or will i have to rebuild subrail and get new rubbers?
Thanks guys1-jeff

P.S. The table came from the World Straight Pool Championships and played great, facings did wear through the cloth at the points? The table was set up by Diamond for the event and they set it up for me using the same rails etc.

your already too thick. you need your subrails extended. and go with a smaller facing, I recommend 3/16".

Just guessing here....but is this table you're talking about...a Gabriels 9ft?

Yes it is. It was used in the straight pool championship in New Jersey.

Gabriels, rather than extend the sub-rails to tighten the pockets, decided to use thicker facings, really no different than what most mechanics do to tighten the pockets...only instead of doubling the facings up...they just added one thick facing:rolleyes:

The only way you're going to be able to tighten up the pockets correctly, is to extend the sub-rails then add 3/16" facings. And as far as the cloth cutting through at the points of the cushions....welcome to Gabriels;)
