LP Custom Cues Logo Contest

Congrats to the winner!!!

I'm having trouble coming up with a new logo for my cues.
I think its time to depart from signing my cues and start using a CNC logo on the buttcap.

Here is where you come in. I'm looking for you to design my logo. I'm not looking for anything fancy, maybe something old school with a modern flair.
It must incorporate "LP" in some way.

In thirty days I will announce the winner. The winner will receive a wrapless Plain Jane cue built by me with the new logo. The cue can be made of any 2 of these types of woods in any combonation...
Cocobolo
Bocote
Birdseye maple
Curly maple
Purple heart
Kingwood
3/8-10 pin, phenolic joint and buttcap with one shaft and your choice of ferrule and tip.

A computer generated image would be best.

Any arguing or off-hand comments about another persons artwork will result in disqualification from the contest.

You must post your logo to this thread. No emails please.

Lets have fun with this. Enter as many times as you like.

Thanks in advance
Lee
LP Custom Cues

No need to start a poll Lee...

Whoops, I didn't read ahead. Got too excited and wanted to try something out.
This was my quick idea.

Good God!!! Jimmy, Chris, be men and let it go. Couple of whiney ass kids. Focus your energy somewhere else. I swear to god I am so sick and tired of reading this soap opera crap!!!! Be a man and move on! ****!!!!! Anyone got a problem just pm me! Now end this shit already!
Duane is spot on...If you dont like it to bad...
What some people dont realize is that Lee has to be able to actually put it on his cues...There were a lot of more detailed designs but the were not practical for his purposes...

Nice choice Lee.

Bad form to to 2 members, though.

As for the comments that a designers logo should of been chosen?

If you really are a designer, you should know the first step is CONCEPT.

Lee liked the winner's concept, who cares if the winner didn't slick back it's hair and put makeup on it.

As for saying you get paid for your designs and so you should of won a cue...Lee posted this as a contest. Don't recall him signing a contract with anyone to design his logo. Contests aren''t guaranteed...get over it.

Love the new site Lee! Glad to see my baby on the portfolio page.

Thanks for the contest Lee, it was a lot of fun. I am glad you found the one you wanted, and congrats to the winner.

Actually I said, "I do disagree with Chris when he states that the creator should have been a designer because talent can be found anywhere and in anyone"

can you tell me where you got this idea?

Thanks for all the kind words. The drawings were crude and I did have every intention of cleaning them up but I just couldn't find the time. I'm glad Lee could see past the unfinished design and found what he was looking for in it. The new cue could not have come at a better time. I have just finished resurecting an old Brunswick table and need a few more cues in my stable. I just started saving up for the cue(s) when this falls in my lap. I'm still in a little state of shock here. I am looking forward to working with Lee on this cue (and possibly others).

Thanks Again,
RG

Great match...

After every game, win or lose, against pro or 1st-time league player, I make an effort to offer my hand to my opponent and say “good match”.

MN kid - Sir, I extend my hand to you and sincerely say good match. Enjoy your cue.

To quote a movie I think we all know:
“the player can shoot 8 trick-shots in a row, blow the 9... and lose. On the other hand, the player can get the 9 in on the break, if the balls spread right... and win. Which is to say that luck plays a part... ”

Such is life.

Classic quote from TCOM. I like it.

It's my pleasure to extend a laurel and hearty handshake back at ya friend and I will [enjoy the cue].

Cheers,
RG

My cheers to you sir!!! And I thank you sincerely for the handshake in return. Very much appreciated. I'd offer a JTS Brown and a beer to cheer to, but MN is a long way from Pittsburgh. But if you are in my neighborhood...

I also offer a sincere nod in resurrecting an old Brunswick table. It's great to hear of old traditions and staples from times past being kept alive.

I tip my hat to you and graciously step aside. Congrats.

My apologies

I left the forum a few days ago and just noticed all the posts that I set off with my comments about the contest. Apparently this has sparked a lot of hate speech and intolerance. I meant no disrespect to the winner, or to any contestants. Criticism is something that goes hand in hand in design. Do you think that designers get constant approval for their work? No. If that were the case, you would see bad graphic, typographic, and product design everywhere. It is VERY VERY important as a designer to accept criticism. If you can't, you will not make it in the industry. You get CONSTANTLY criticized and scrutinized for your work, more so by your peers than authority figures or bosses. I did not attack LP Cues or MN Kid, I attacked the design. It lacked the skill, time, effort, contrast, lineweight, and appropriate presentation.
However, it was wrong of me to bring the criticisms we encounter in the real world to a contest run by LP. His cues are beautiful, well crafted, and he carries his work with great pride as demonstrated by his well designed website. It is important to note as well that designers, unlike artists, know the difference between art and design, in that there are such things as bad pieces. If this was a real design studio, which it is not and I should have had the sense to differentiate the two, this would be outrage. The original concept would be used, and the person who threw it together haphazardly would be paid possibly nothing, while the real designer would retouch and redesign it from scratch, like one of the users did on here and placed the logo on the cue in different ways. He should be thanked for doing such a nice thing for MN Kid, because now it looks like a logo.
I apologize for what people took for disrespect. Those of you not in the design field should understand the industry, and if you don't, some of your comments sound naive. Disrespect and criticism are not the same, by far. It is my fault for being out of context, and I am happy for MN Kid, but disappointed that my opinions were cut down to mere hate. I am not a sore loser, I have lost plenty of contracts to other designers. I want to thank those of you who understood and agreed with me, and to those of you who understand me and didn't comment at all. I recieved more PMs telling me they agreed with me, so thanks to all of you as well. Once again, I apologize.

Chris

Chris

Your absolutely correct. Thank You s.fender for your help presenting a more polished depiction of the design. Much appreciated sir.

There were a lot of great logos submitted, great job everyone! It was fun. Sorry I didn't think of the winning design.
I just want to say that a great logo doesn't define the company. A great company defines the logo.

Much success to Lee with his new logo.

Here's what it will look like on a cue.

I think these designs look great, but then again I thought a lot of the designs looked great. There are a lot of creative ppl here with a lot of great ideas. I am sure that any cue makers that frequent this site know where to come when they are having designer's block.

New Logo

Lee,

Thank you for the opportunity to play a fun game. Offer a unique logo idea - and possibly win a cue (if it matches what YOU are looking for to represent your product).

I believe you picked a nice design.

Too bad you have to fade the rail over your choice.... Some people have to take the fun out of everything....

Actually I never said you did, I was addressing both of you in my post, the first comment about a designer winning was aimed at skyscraper. You are the one who jumped to the defensive and assumed I was responding to your post.

Here is how my reading comprehension is...a quote from you...

"You should understand why the designers of this contest should be upset. Our time is money and again to pick that design is a kick in the face to us."

As for reading comprehension, not many people are skilled at it.

Guess you are right, some people are not skilled at it...check a mirror, lately?
I think 99% of people who read that quote of yours, would surmise that you are mad because you spent your 'valuable' time to create a few designs, and didn't get a reward or payment.
