Good cue in the $150 range?

Hi all, new to the forum. I've been away from the game for about five years, but just bought a table and am excited to get back into it. I sold my cue back when I stopped playing, unfortunately, and am looking to pick up a player to help me get back into things.

So, I'm looking for something new/used around the $150 price range. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
 
If your looking to just order something off the net. I would have to say the Mcdermott Star series cues. You can pick one up for under $100. I had one I bought as my customs were out. like an ass I sold it. and I want it back. But it was my best playing cue to date.

With that said though. as I like to try new things I just bought a Fury Sneaky which I expect on Wed. It was $125 and looks great. so I'll keep you posted.

Another option is to look at the forsale forum as the AZ Community always give great deals on higher quality cues. If you not set in stone at that $150 range. YOu can get a good Custome plain player for the $300 range.

Thanks, I'll add some of these to my list. I'm mainly looking for something that plays well but isn't super expensive to use for the next year or two. Once I'm back playing the way I used to I'll upgrade to a nicer cue.
 
I have had some great custom cues in my life. In the past 2 years alone I have had a custom Lambros, 2 Kleins, Blue Grass, Bender, and one Richie Hsu. I even played with my friends Szamboti once. My advise to you, is get a Cuetex. They cost less than the $150 your willing to spend and it hits great. They have a 3/8x14 pin, which is rather large, and you can't get a better hit for that price. Cuetex are good cues don't let the detracters say their not. Well! I am just trying to help. Good luck!
 
I have to disagree on the cheaper Cuetec cues. I had one with the fiberglass coated shaft and yes it hit and played well but the shaft was impossible to keep from always being sticky. I finally gave up trying to keep it smooth and got rid of it.
If you want what has been reported to be a decent cue for around a $100 look up "Rackem" that sells cues on the forum. He has brand new import cues that seem to be a best bang for the buck.
 
I don't know if your price is set in stone but for just for a weeks worth of lunch money more you can pick up the best playing cue lucasi makes. It has 6 points of rosewood with true veneers, and a radial pin to boot. I had one and wish I hadn't sold it. The model is the L-ER. Check it out you won't be disappointed.

I play with a glove so don't experience any discomfort when it comes to shafts. Cuetex does have a cleaning product that does work on dirty and sticky shafts. All in all, these hard economic days you do have choices on a $150 . Take all the advise all the AZers are offering and make a hardline decision. Good luck and shoot straight.

Thanks for all of the recommendations everyone, I wound up getting a good price on a McDermott Raider from a local shop. It felt great to me so I went with it, should definitely work to get me back into form.
