The standard for custom cues is 58" ... I make mine a little longer as the 58" works well for people who are shorter . Making longer cues takes a bit of tweaking to get balance back a bit . A taller person can maintain proper form and have balance with feel and not hold the cue at the butt cap. I've made a cue for a 6' 9" man which was 64" long . Larger diameter butt to maintain an overall conical taper . Still played stiff !!! Tougher to find shaft wood , waste a bit buying boards to make shafts . They just have to pay more , sorry ... Longer cues are what we need as humans are much taller than a 100 years ago , so we need to lengthen the standard .
It's always a catch 22 for people on this, Just because your taller, doesn't mean you'll like a longer cue, Two of my friends, one is 6' 6", the other is 6'9", They both hate the hit of a longer cue. But some people that are tall, have chosen a longer butt and maintained the standard 29 inch shaft to keep control of deflection.
I am also 6-2 and went to a 59" cue a few years ago and never looked back. I've also played with two 60" cues and they were just fine for me.
All of these cues were split evenly lengthwise between the butt and shafts. But then again, my poor game knows nothing from deflection, etc.
