I have been trying to find a builder who can make me a white hard rock maple shaft without any sugar spots, v grain lines, or any standout grain lines within 10 inches from the ferrel. I think balabushka makes these shafts on some of their cues. Can anyone make me one?

Most people can find clean wood with very few growth rings that will produce the look you are after. But on the other hand a tighter grain shaft with a few end grain feathers might play better. Looks or denser wood........ decisions, decisions??????????

my question is why on earth would you want such a shaft?

Yeah ... I thought old school players preferred the denser, yellowish shafts to the pure white ones.

But ... to answer your question ... there are cue makers right here that can do it for you.
Rat cues might be a good choice as he most likely has a large stock of shaft wood to choose from and could do about any taper profile you want.

Call him on the phone and ask.

Some people are very easily distracted while shooting by marks on a shaft... I'm guessing this is the issue here.

Sheldon is right. Grain lines are a destraction. I have around 30 shafts, some custom, but haven't been able to get one built like i want. I will contact the ones who say they can build one. Its hard to believe, but the best shaft i have is a Nick Varner, which someone ruined while putting a tip on for me,so, that would be had. I just bought a new jacoby, one shaft i can play with by turning the grains around, the other has thick v lines grains starting from the ferrel all the way down. Just had a custom one built a couple of weeks ago,but its not white, and has a few line grains. It would be nice if this didn't matter, but thats the way it is. Thanks.
