texas open, septembe 3-6 in round Rock texas

It has been decided that we will use the red circle cue balls this year as in years past.

After a couple of days it feels heavy too LOL!

I thought the measle ball was used the last few years?

We are adding FOUR free entries to this event at The Texas Open Qualifier, this weekend AT Skinny Bob's!!

Added money to 2 divisions and advanced player meetings for both!!

July 31 & Aug 1

See thread here on the forum!

The Measle ball has never been used as far as I know, not the past 5 years anyhow!

This event definitely does not deserve to be played with a red circle. That cueball should be outlawed, its way to light.... This and all major tours/events should use the measle ball....

ironman get it right kid.........

Personally it doesn't matter to me but I am no a big fan of the measle ball. Besides the weight difference is so slight it makes little difference.

KID???? Now there is a contradiction is terms. LOL!

We definitely have used the measle ball the last two years... of that I'm 100% certain.

I vote to still use it as it is the professional standard these days. The red circle is also a great ball and neither would be a bad choice.

There u go...If the weights so slight of a difference, and you dont care which one, but most are hollering measel ball, then it looks like you got an obvious choice.....The Texas open tradition should continue, and continue to use the measel ball as in the past.........

It hasn't been used since I have been directing this event, that is my point. However that being said, we are going to make a decision on this in the next couple of days. it honestly makes little difference to me.

I just recieved two calls about this saying we did actually use it once a couple of years ago. I surely don't remember it but i am checking this out and will post if wrong.
As I said, it really matters little to me and if we have used it, I simply forgot, but I have forgotten lot's of things. If wrong I will post being wrong and apologize.
I got a call earlier today and we are undecided about which ball to use. We will know in a couple of days.

Lewis I checked the archives on Bigtruck show and it appears to be a measle ball that Chris Bartrum was shooting with in the finals. I missed last years tournament, but I played in the 2008 Texas Open and we used the red circle. I don't care what ball we use.

Just an ideal! Let's use the over sized cue ball, maybe us old guys would have a chance.

Well it turns out I was wrong and we did use it one year. Several complaints were lodged against it. As You point out, it was used last year and I had just forgotten.
As I posted earlier, a decision will be made in the next couple of days on which ball will be used. For the record I voted on the red circle. My reason for this is that it is the most widely used ball in our region and across the country. It is just one less expense for most. That is just my opinion!
Again, I was wrong and I apologize, I surely thought I was right though. AIn't the first time!

The red circle is the gheyest cueball on the planet period...Its for suckers with no stroke

Texas Open at Skinny Bob's Billiards, Round Rock, Texas

Hello everyone….

We would like to invite everyone to this year’s Texas Open and we are striving to make this the best Texas Open ever. As previously stated we will have two extra tables for play this year. We have installed steps at the top of the ramp to the Billiards table and now have the two tables that Lewis has generally used open for play.

Moe at Atex Family Fun Center in Austin is installing new Simonis 860 cloth on all tables and these babies should play awesome. We have installed new plasma TV’s and our HVAC guy say’s our a/c units are running at peak performance.

We have decided on the Aramath Pro Cup Cue Ball aka Measle ball. We like the fact that the audience will be able to see the action the players put on a shot. Plus it will show well for the live stream. It is a good ball and will eliminate any inconsistencies in weight opposed to the red dot that comes in two different weights and to honest we are not sure what manufactured red dot balls we have.

The preliminary tournament this weekend July 31st and August 1st should fill up fast so Text Ray at 254-379-2569 asap Friday . Remember on day two – Sunday, if one of the ladies does not win that event Bob will buy the last lady standing an entry into the Open. That’s 4 places ‘Ol Bob is gonna pony up.

We are striving for everything to be as perfect as we can make it for everyone and to make the Texas 9 Ball Open Championships the finest and most exciting tournament ever.

Oh, and Bob will be playing as well so you best get yer game on baby!

We are looking forward to seeing everyone and good luck to all.

Bob.
