Hey guys, i've been posting alot of questions lately and just wanted to say thank you for all your answers. Now, for a few more questions. I just got my table (brunswick dakota II) and it has the huge 5" (maybe bigger) bucket pockets. I'm going to go with 4 1/2 pockets. I was originally going to just shim it and add thicker facings but after taking the cloth off the rails I noticed my facings are already pretty thick and the rail is cut horrible and the facing doesen't even match the countour of the rails sooooooo....now I decided to say screw it and do it the right way by extending the rail. I feel pretty confident as I worked as a cabinate maker for about 3 years. questions are. What rails do you guys recomend? What size facings should I use? What kind of wood should I use to extend the rails?

I'll be starting this project in about 2 weeks. I have to go back to my oil rig next week and I'll order all the stuff I need so its ready to go when I get back home!!!
 
ok. Just did a little math, just wanted to double check it here, seems a little off. I currently have 5" pockets with my facings which are 1/4". I want to go to 4 1/2" with 1/8" facings. I figured out that if I want to run 1/8" facings i'll have to extend my subrail 3/4". Correct? seems like kinda alot compared to the pictures of other subrail extensions i've seen.

Correcting pocket miters also cuts down on the pocket openings;)
 
well, I took some measurements and here is what I have right now. (this is including the 1/4" facings). 143 degree horizontal angle on corners. 79 degree vertical on corners. 5" opening, 4.5" in throat. 1.5" shelf.
