Hi I am looking for a taig standard .593 headstock. I saw some people changing over to the new headstocks that the lathe guys are building and I couldn't help but wonder if they had their orginal headstocks laying around......I have talked to taig about the headstocks and even just the spindle....but if anyone has a used one in good condition please let me know if your willing to sell it....thanks:grin:

Since I'm too lazy to call myself, what is the deal with the .593 headstock?

Will Taig sell it to just anybody?

Do you have to buy some minimum number?

Do you have to be special?

just google taig parts and you can buy the headstock or pieces to make one

True enough - Super tech has eerything and more for the STANDARD
spindle which is inconveniently only 3/8 give or take bore.

I was hoping to find a source for the .593 bore version.

jcaction???

Taig does sell this headstock. I don't believe they advertise it though. You can get ahold of Nick Carter at Carter tools and he will sell you one. He is the one who turned me onto them. He also gives a discount off on taig parts. Just google Carter tools and Taig. He will show up. Shoot him an e-mail. Very trust worthy.

Yes taig does sell both the headstock and the spindle cartridge to go in the housing......the headstock is 69 and the spindle is somewhere around 45.......I am looking for one used that someone would be willing to part with cheaper....its going on a travel tip lathe......I bought a fully loaded with all the options taig micro lathe for 150......its only purpose will be for tournys......so anyone out there who upgraded and no longer wants the standard taig .593 headstock send me a pm....thanks

Thanks for the info - I guess no one wants to admit they sell the
big bore:).

I am going to buy the 1.4 inch headstock to replace the .590 sometime soon, but until then try this.

well hurry up then..lol.....briannas's price is the same as taigs....I can get the spindle for about 50 shipped to my door....the housing in the small 3/8 spindle and the larger .593 spindle is the same.....you can replace the spindle in min...30 secs if your good.....very clever design....but this lathe will probably never see much action in the shop and if it does it will be only for shaft work on the tip end.....if I have no other choice I will just buy the other spindle...but I would prefer to find a full headstock for around that.....the headstock on this micro is the older style that has the two bolts in the back to tighten it up on the dovetail...I like the new design better with just the one......let me know something.:grin-square:

I noticed my phrase wasn't clear....you can buy the full put together headstock for 69.....if your using your old headstock houseing then you can just order a new spindle cartridge....call taig or carter up and they will tell you more....

I have several of these spindles around my shop. I picked them up for around $65. I have several uses for them. My point being that there is no reason to get rid of one as they are handy. Oh and for the record these spindles are better for other projects then what the other guys are selling as $65 is cheap.
